Behind every bottle stands a passionate winemaker. In this section, discover our partner estates, their history, and everyone involved in crafting each cuvée. Over 350 independent wine estates, selected after on-site visits and tastings by our team, from every major wine region in France, no middlemen, no négociants, direct from the vine to your cellar.
Buying wine directly from the winemaker: why choose short-circuit purchasing ?
An independent winemaker grows their own vines, manages their harvest, vinifies their grapes and sells their bottles under their own name. This grower expertise, mastered from appellation to vintage, from terroir to bottling, is what fundamentally sets direct-from-producer purchasing apart from buying in a supermarket or through a négociant.
At Avenue des Vins, every partner estate ships its cuvées directly from its cellar. You access the same bottles available at the property, at cellar-door prices, with the guarantee of optimal storage conditions: the wine leaves from the winemaker's own stock, with no cold-chain interruption and no third-party logistics platform.
Explore our winemakers by wine region
From the banks of the Rhine to the Mediterranean coast, our partner estates cover the entire French wine landscape. Each region gives you direct access to grape varieties, terroirs and appellations, purchased straight from the producer.
- Alsace wines : Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris direct from the estate
- Burgundy wines : Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Chablis and village appellations
- Rhône Valley wines : Grenache, Syrah, Viognier from North to South
- Loire Valley wines : Muscadet, Sancerre, Vouvray, Chinon and Anjou
- South-West wines : Cahors, Bergerac, Madiran and Pécharmant
- Languedoc-Roussillon wines : Minervois, Saint-Chinian, Faugères
- Provence wines : rosés and reds from Côtes de Provence and Les Baux
- Beaujolais wines : the ten crus, terroir-driven Gamay direct from the grower
Committed winemakers: organic, biodynamic, natural wines
A growing number of our partner estates cultivate their vines through certified organic farming, biodynamics or produce natural wines with no added sulphites. Each winemaker profile specifies the certifications obtained (AB, HVE, Demeter) as well as the farming practices applied in the vineyard.

Frequently asked questions about our winemakers
What is an independent winemaker ?
An independent winemaker grows their own vines, vinifies their own grapes and sells their bottles under their own name. They control the entire production chain: vineyard management, vinification, ageing and bottling. This is the definition of a grower-producer, as opposed to a négociant who buys grapes or bulk wine to blend and sell.
Why buy wine directly from the estate ?
Buying direct cuts out middlemen's margins. You access the same cuvées available at the property, at cellar-door prices, with full traceability: appellation, vintage, farming method and cellar practices are all detailed on every listing. The bottle ships directly from the winemaker's stock, under optimal storage conditions.
How do I choose a winemaker on Avenue des Vins ?
Filter by wine region to target a specific terroir, or browse our Winemaker Portraits section to discover the story and commitments of each estate before placing your order.
Can I buy wines from our winemakers by the bottle ?
Yes. Several estates offer their cuvées for sale by the single bottle, with no obligation to buy a full case, but also as a 3-bottle discovery set to explore the estate. Perfect for discovering a new terroir or putting together a personalised selection.
Do the winemakers ship the orders themselves ?
Yes. At Avenue des Vins, every order is packed and shipped directly by the estate from its own cellar. You receive your wine in the same conditions as a purchase at the property, with particular care given to packaging by the winemaker themselves.
What budget should I plan for buying wine directly from a winemaker ?
Prices vary depending on the appellation and the estate. On Avenue des Vins, you will find accessible cuvées from as little as €8-10, cellar-worthy wines between €20 and €50, and exceptional cuvées beyond that. Buying direct guarantees cellar-door pricing, with no négociant mark-up or middleman margin.
Why buy wine on Avenue des Vins rather than in a supermarket ?
In supermarkets, you buy négociant wines or high-volume brands. At Avenue des Vins, every bottle comes from a grower who planted their vines, followed their harvest and vinified the wine themselves. Traceability is total: terroir, vintage, farming practices. That is the meaning of short-circuit purchasing and direct-from-producer sales.
