Dive into the refined world of Brut Nature Champagne, the purest and most authentic expression of the Champagne terroir. Crafted by passionate growers, these champagnes with zero dosage (no sugar added after disgorgement) reveal the full richness and freshness of their grape varieties.

An Exceptional Terroir and Emblematic Grape Varieties

Located in north-eastern France, Champagne is a world-renowned wine region where the combination of a cool climate and chalky soils gives its wines unparalleled finesse and vivacity. Our Brut Nature champagnes are crafted from the three flagship varieties of the appellation:

  • Chardonnay: Brings freshness, minerality and elegance.
  • Pinot Noir: Offers structure, power and fruity notes.
  • Meunier: Provides roundness, suppleness and indulgent aromas.

Each cuvée reflects the terroir and unique expertise of our partner growers, who practice environmentally responsible viticulture, blending tradition and innovation.

Committed Growers for Unrivalled Quality

Our selection highlights family estates and artisan growers who craft exceptional champagnes. Among them, the Champagne house DAMIEN-BUFFET, established since the 15th century in Sacy, a Premier Cru village. Renowned for its expressive Meunier, the estate cultivates its vines using sustainable viticulture, combining tradition and modernity.

Brut Nature, Extra Brut, Brut: what is the difference ?

Brut Nature, also called zero dosage or non-dosé, contains no added sugar after disgorgement (0 g/L). It is the purest, most mineral style, closest to the raw expression of the terroir. Extra Brut allows up to 6 g/L of residual sugar, very dry, but slightly less sharp. Classic Brut (up to 12 g/L) is rounder and more approachable, designed to appeal to the widest audience. If you are looking for a champagne without compromise, without artifice, that speaks only of its terroir and grape varieties, Brut Nature is your answer.

Champagne terroirs of the Brut Nature style

The Brut Nature style expresses itself with particular intensity on terroirs with strong mineral identity. The Montagne de Reims, with its deep chalk soils and dominant Pinot Noir, produces structured and vinous Brut Natures. The Côte des Blancs, heartland of Chardonnay, delivers zero dosage champagnes of remarkable finesse and tension. The Vallée de la Marne, with its generous Meunier, brings rounder and fruitier Brut Natures. In the Aube, Côte des Bar, independent growers offer characterful Brut Natures at accessible prices, increasingly recognised by enthusiasts.

Our grower-producers, identifiable by the RM mention on the label, are the only ones able to craft a truly uncompromising Brut Nature: they control every step from vine to disgorgement, with no superfluous addition.

Frequently asked questions about Brut Nature Champagne

What exactly is a Brut Nature champagne ?

Brut Nature is a champagne made without any sugar added after disgorgement, what is known as dosage. It contains 0 to 3 g/L of natural residual sugar, with no added expedition liqueur. It is the purest style in the Champagne appellation, directly revealing the terroir, the grape varieties and the grower's work, without any corrective artifice.

What is the difference between Brut Nature and Extra Brut ?

Brut Nature contains no added sugar (0 to 3 g/L total). Extra Brut can contain up to 6 g/L of residual sugar with a light dosage. Both styles are very dry and terroir-driven, but Brut Nature is more radical, more mineral, more sharp. Extra Brut is slightly more accessible for palates less accustomed to non-dosed champagnes.

Is Brut Nature suitable for people with diabetes or those avoiding sugar ?

Brut Nature is the champagne with the least added sugar in the entire appellation, 0 g/L dosage. It is therefore the most suitable style for those wishing to limit their sugar intake. That said, wine naturally contains very small amounts of residual sugar and alcohol — please consult a healthcare professional for personalised medical advice.

What food pairings work with Brut Nature champagne ?

Brut Nature pairs perfectly with oysters, sea urchins, langoustines, fish tartare and sushi. Its sharp minerality also makes it an ideal companion for fresh goat's cheese, raw or seared scallops, and Japanese cuisine. Avoid pairing with sweet dishes or desserts, the lack of dosage would create an unpleasant contrast.

At what temperature should Brut Nature be served ?

Between 8 and 10°C for non-vintage cuvées. Below 7°C, the minerality and aromas close completely, this is the style that suffers most from being served too cold. A vintage Brut Nature can be served slightly warmer, 10 to 12°C, to allow its aromatic complexity to express itself.

Can Brut Nature be cellared ?

Yes, and often better than classic bruts. The natural tension of zero dosage allows it to evolve well over time, 3 to 5 years for non-vintage cuvées. Vintage examples can be kept for 8 to 15 years depending on the terroir, developing complex notes of honey, wax and wet chalk. Store horizontally, between 10 and 15°C, away from light.

Why is Brut Nature less common than classic Brut ?

Crafting a Brut Nature is an exercise in high precision: without dosage to correct imperfections, the intrinsic quality of the grape, the terroir and the winemaking must be flawless. This is why this style is predominantly produced by demanding grower-producers who control every step of their production, and not by large-scale blending operations.
