Champagne Akileire: a grower's Champagne from Chézy-sur-Marne, in the Marne Valley

Champagne Akileire - Chézy-sur-Marne (Aisne, Marne Valley)

Champagne Akileire is a grower's Champagne based in Chézy-sur-Marne, in the western Marne Valley (Aisne). Benoît and his two children, Camille and Timothé, grow the three Champagne grape varieties, Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, under sustainable viticulture (HVE and VDC), for terroir cuvées marked by partial oak ageing.

In Chézy-sur-Marne, in a still little-known corner of the Marne Valley, a family explores its terroir the way one plots a flight path. Benoît, Camille and Timothé craft grower Champagnes, from blend to single-variety cuvées, where the relief of two hillsides, a north-facing and a south-facing slope, can be read in the glass. Certified HVE and VDC, partly oak-aged: Champagne Akileire is available direct on Avenue des Vins.

Akileire: a family, a terroir and three cuvées

Champagne Akileire is, first and foremost, a family story. In Chézy-sur-Marne, Benoît explores his vineyard alongside his two children, Camille and Timothé. Three winegrowers, three views of one terroir, and, quite naturally, three cuvées to embody them.

The house borrows its language from aviation and the radio alphabet: latitude, longitude and altitude become markers to explore the relief, and each cuvée bears a coded name, Bravo Delta November, Mike Echo Uniform, Charlie Hotel Alfa. A playful way to tell the story of a hillside terroir, between north- and south-facing slopes.

The estate moves forward with a simple conviction: to reveal the full expression of the three Champagne grapes, in a convivial, sharing spirit, while keeping course towards responsible, sustainable viticulture.

The Akileire spirit

To explore a still little-known hillside terroir, reveal its every nuance and tell its story with a smile: Champagne Akileire cultivates a free, convivial state of mind. Partial oak ageing signs the house style, a velvety texture and a delicate complexity, in the service of the Chézy-sur-Marne terroir.

Chézy-sur-Marne, a hillside terroir in the Marne Valley

The estate grows its vines in Chézy-sur-Marne, in the western part of the Marne Valley, in the Aisne. It is a still little-known terroir of varied relief: vines, woods, river, slopes and plains sit side by side, offering a fine diversity of soils and exposures.

The vineyard spreads over two facing hillsides, a few hundred metres apart: a north-facing and a south-facing slope. To the north, the soils are predominantly clay-limestone; to the south, sand takes over, with outcrops of coarse sandstone. This mosaic shapes taut, mineral Champagnes with an almost saline, chalky signature.

Clay-limestone to the north, sand and sandstone to the south: taut, mineral, saline Champagnes.

The vineyard and the three Champagne grapes

Akileire grows the three iconic Champagne grapes. Meunier, the king grape of the Marne Valley, dominates the vineyard; it is joined by Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Together they reach their full dimension, both in blends and as single-variety cuvées.

The vineyard is certified High Environmental Value (HVE) and Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne (VDC), two schemes that frame respect for the soils, biodiversity and the environment. Responsible viticulture, in the service of the terroir and its transmission.

The Akileire style: the signature of oak

In the cellar, the wines are made partly in stainless-steel vats, partly in oak barrels. This time in wood is the house signature: it brings a velvety texture, a delicate complexity and terroir accents, without ever masking the fruit.

Akileire Champagnes seek a balance between tension and generosity, in a convivial spirit. Dosage stays low, the Blanc de Noirs is an extra-brut, to let the terroir speak with frankness.

The cuvées of Champagne Akileire

Three people, three cuvées: a blended Blanc de Noirs to enter the range, then two single-variety cuvées expected in 2026. Each cuvée bears a radio-alphabet name, a nod to the house's aerial world.

Bravo Delta November (BDN) - Blanc de Noirs

Extra-brut - 66% Pinot Noir, 34% Meunier - vat and oak

The entry cuvée of the range, and the first available. An extra-brut Blanc de Noirs, very lightly dosed, where Pinot Noir takes the lead over Meunier. Fine bubbles, a nose of citrus and white fruit with a brioche hint, and a straight, taut, saline palate. Serve at around 8 to 10 °C.

Mike Echo Uniform (MEU) - Meunier

100% Meunier - single variety - 2026 release

Meunier on its own, to reveal its full scope. A cuvée that highlights the chalky power and mineral accents of the Chézy terroir. Currently ageing, expected in 2026.

Charlie Hotel Alfa (CHA) - Chardonnay

100% Chardonnay - single variety - 2026 release

The estate's sunny side: a fluid, frank, precise Chardonnay, all freshness, on bright fruit. Also expected in 2026.

The cuvées are made between stainless-steel vats and oak. The Blanc de Noirs Bravo Delta November is available now; the two single-variety cuvées, Mike Echo Uniform (Meunier) and Charlie Hotel Alfa (Chardonnay), are expected in 2026. The estate is happy to welcome visitors in Chézy-sur-Marne, by appointment, for a tasting.

Frequently asked questions about Champagne Akileire

Where is Champagne Akileire located ?

Champagne Akileire is located in Chézy-sur-Marne (02570), in the Aisne, within the western Marne Valley. It is a grower's Champagne, made and sold direct. The estate welcomes visitors by appointment for a tasting.

Who are the winegrowers behind Champagne Akileire ?

The estate is a family affair: Benoît explores his vineyard alongside his two children, Camille and Timothé. Three winegrowers for three cuvées, gathered around a single terroir in Chézy-sur-Marne, in a convivial, sharing spirit.

What do the Akileire cuvée names mean ?

The cuvées borrow their names from the international radio alphabet, a nod to the house's aerial world. Bravo Delta November (B-D-N) stands for the Blanc de Noirs, Mike Echo Uniform (M-E-U) for the Meunier and Charlie Hotel Alfa (C-H-A) for the Chardonnay.

Which grapes make up Champagne Akileire ?

The estate grows the three traditional Champagne grapes: Meunier, largely dominant and the king grape of the Marne Valley, joined by Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. They are worked both in blends and as single-variety cuvées.

What is a Blanc de Noirs ?

A Blanc de Noirs is a white Champagne made only from black grapes, Pinot Noir and Meunier, whose grapes are gently pressed to extract only a clear juice. Akileire's Bravo Delta November blends 66% Pinot Noir and 34% Meunier.

What is extra-brut dosage ?

Dosage is the sugar added before release. An extra-brut Champagne contains very little (at most 6 grams per litre): the wine is drier and lets the terroir speak more. Akileire's Blanc de Noirs is dosed at just 1 gram per litre.

Is Champagne Akileire organic ?

The estate is not certified organic, but it is committed to sustainable viticulture, recognised by two certifications: High Environmental Value (HVE) and Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne (VDC). These schemes frame respect for the soils, biodiversity and the environment.

Which Akileire cuvées are available ?

The Bravo Delta November cuvée, an extra-brut Blanc de Noirs, is the first available and the gateway to the range. The two single-variety cuvées, Mike Echo Uniform (100% Meunier) and Charlie Hotel Alfa (100% Chardonnay), are expected in 2026.

What food pairs with Champagne Akileire ?

The Blanc de Noirs is lovely as an aperitif, but it also accompanies a meal: sole meunière, a scallop tartare, grilled lobster, poultry in a cream sauce or a mushroom risotto. Its tension and minerality make it a gastronomic Champagne.

At what temperature should it be served and how long can it be kept ?

Serve the Champagne well chilled, at around 8 to 10 °C, in a glass wide enough to release the aromas. The Blanc de Noirs Bravo Delta November drinks well now and can be kept for about 3 to 6 years in a cool cellar, away from light.

Which Akileire Champagne makes a good gift ?

For an original gift, the Blanc de Noirs Bravo Delta November is a fine choice: an extra-brut grower Champagne, Pinot Noir-dominant, still under the radar. Its graphic world and radio-alphabet name also make it a bottle that stands out on the table.

Can you visit the estate and taste the Champagnes ?

Yes. The family is happy to welcome visitors in Chézy-sur-Marne, by appointment, to discover the terroir and taste the cuvées. A good chance to explore this still little-known part of the Marne Valley.

Where can I buy Champagne Akileire directly ?

You can buy Champagne Akileire direct from the grower on Avenue des Vins, without any intermediary and as close as possible to the cellar-door price, with careful delivery across France and Europe. Buying through this short circuit guarantees the origin and traceability of the bottles while supporting a young family estate.
