Champagne Bonvalet: an independent Champagne house in Pierry, near Épernay

Champagne Bonvalet - Pierry, near Épernay (Marne)

Champagne Bonvalet is an independent, family-run Champagne house based in Pierry, just outside Épernay. Founded in 2012 by Pauline and Guillaume Bonvalet, with no inherited vines, it makes fresh, mineral Champagnes, partly aged in Burgundy oak barrels. On Avenue des Vins, discover its founding cuvées: the Brut Suprême and the Blanc Suprême.

Some Champagne houses are handed down; this one invented itself. In Pierry, a stone's throw from Épernay, Pauline and Guillaume Bonvalet built their house from scratch, driven by a contemporary, accessible vision of Champagne. Parcel selection, first-press juice only and Burgundy-oak ageing: Champagne Bonvalet cultivates precision and freshness, available direct on Avenue des Vins.

Bonvalet: a Champagne house born of a dream, not an inheritance

Pauline and Guillaume Bonvalet did not inherit any vines. Yet it was in Pierry, near Épernay, that they brought their Champagne house to life in 2012, starting from nothing. The first bottles left the cellar in 2014, laying the foundations of a standard they would never let go of.

In 2017, Pauline left her native Belgium to join Guillaume and the family adventure. Together, they grew the range and the estate's image, until, eight years after its creation, they earned the coveted title of Maison de champagne. A recognition for a couple determined to shake things up and make Champagne more accessible.

Their compass: quality and terroir expression, without dogma or imposed tradition. Each cuvée is conceived as a story to tell, between elegance, character and a resolutely modern identity.

The house motto

"To a valiant heart, nothing is impossible." The Bonvalet house has made this motto, attributed to Jacques Cœur, its own: a few words that sum up an adventure begun from nothing and built through passion and hard work.

Pierry and the vineyard: a demanding grape selection

The house is based in Pierry, a wine village nestled at the gates of Épernay, in the heart of the Champagne vineyard. Without inherited plots, Bonvalet has made selection its craft: the grapes are chosen with care, parcel by parcel, according to their quality and origin.

The estate works the three Champagne grapes, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier, and keeps only the first-press juice, the finest. The estate pays close attention to the soils, biodiversity and the environment.

The Bonvalet signature: Burgundy oak and the art of the blend

The search for the ideal blend, between minerality and terroir expression, lies at the heart of the house's identity. Every step is carried out with care: yeast selection, ageing time and dosage are considered cuvée by cuvée.

The house ages part of its wines in oak barrels that once held great Burgundy wines, bringing depth and texture without masking the fruit. Every Bonvalet Champagne goes through malolactic fermentation, a source of roundness, for a style that is both fresh and mineral.

A contemporary vision of Champagne

Bonvalet claims a modern, accessible approach to Champagne: demystifying the appellation, sharing its behind-the-scenes and offering fine wines, without giving up on standards. The house also pays real attention to the economic, social and environmental stakes of its activity.

The result: fresh, mineral, precise cuvées, each conceived as a signature. A range of seven Champagnes, from Blanc de Blancs to rosé by way of a vintage, each with its own world.

The cuvées of Champagne Bonvalet

The house offers seven cuvées, each with its own personality. On Avenue des Vins, discover the two founding cuvées: the Brut Suprême and the Blanc Suprême, among the very first signed by Bonvalet, brought back in 2023 with a new design.

Brut Suprême

70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay - Brut (6 g/l)

One of the house's very first cuvées, born in 2012. A brut led by Pinot Noir, which gives it structure and substance, balanced by Chardonnay. A characterful Champagne, both fresh and generous.

Blanc Suprême

70% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir - Extra-brut (6 g/l)

The sister cuvée, Chardonnay-dominant and dosed as an extra-brut. More airy, it plays on freshness, minerality and finesse, in the house's contemporary spirit.

The house makes five other cuvées, available from the estate: Épopée (a blend of the three grapes), Kosmos (Blanc de Blancs), Marpésia (rosé), Horae (2014 vintage) and Amas Stellaire (Chardonnay and Meunier). Bonvalet Champagnes are distributed across several European countries, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and as far as South Korea.

A committed, contemporary house

Champagne Bonvalet uses only first-press juice, from rigorous parcel selections. A forward-looking house, mindful of its economic, social and environmental impact, that even reprocesses its winemaking by-products.

What is the difference between the Brut Suprême and the Blanc Suprême ?

The Brut Suprême is led by Pinot Noir (70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay), with a brut dosage: it is structured and generous. The Blanc Suprême reverses the proportions (70% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir) and is dosed as an extra-brut: more airy, it plays on freshness and minerality.
