An Iconic Family Estate in Sancerre.Rooted in Sancerre since 1513, Maison Joseph Mellot embodies the continuity of know-how passed down from generation to generation. From Pierre-Étienne Mellot, pioneer of the lineage, to Catherine Corbeau-Mellot who now leads the estate, the family has shaped a recognized style: precise, expressive wines that remain true to their terroirs. Historically advisers to prestigious tables (César Mellot was counselor to King Louis XIV), we have become one of the leading ambassadors of Centre-Loire wines.

A Measurable Environmental Commitment, from Vineyard to Cellar

Our approach is based on virtuous and verifiable practices:

• 100 ha certified HVE (High Environmental Value), plot monitoring, soil work, controlled yields, mechanical weeding, and full traceability.
• Domaine des Émois (Sancerre) certified Organic, Domaine des Mariniers (Pouilly-Fumé) in conversion.
• Cellar ISO 14001 certified since 2009, with sorting, recycling, and recovery of all waste (glass, wood, plastics, corks, wastewater).

Objective: to limit environmental impact while preserving the aromatic identity of each cuvée.

Eight Appellations, One Single Standard of Excellence

As a grower-producer across all 8 AOCs of the Centre-Loire, we showcase the diversity of soils (marl, limestone “caillottes,” flint, gravel, sand) and climates:

• Sancerre – Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, minerality, tension, elegance.
• Pouilly-Fumé & Pouilly-sur-Loire – smoky Sauvignon, delicate and floral Chasselas.
• Menetou-Salon – chalky finesse, chiselled whites, lace-like reds.
• Quincy – gravel-grown Sauvignon, bright and pure.
• Reuilly – crisp freshness, direct yet gourmet profiles.
• Coteaux du Giennois – precise Loire blends, expressive whites.
• Châteaumeillant – fruity reds and “gris” rosés with gourmet texture.

Each terroir is cultivated to harvest grapes of high potential, the essential foundation for our precise winemaking.

Winemaking Expertise and the House Style

In the cellar, our team led by oenologist Norbert Buchonnet crafts wines that are pure, expressive, and persistent. Plot selections, gentle pressing, controlled fermentations, tailored aging, and a constant search for balance guide the blending process. The result: regularly awarded cuvées that clearly express their origins.
