In the northwest of France, the Loire vineyard extends from the Massif Central to Nantes over some 70,000 hectares of vines. It is known for the Chinon, Bourgueil and Pouilly-Fumé appellations, among others. The Bonnezeaux AOC is also found there.

The appellation area of this AOC extends on the right bank of the Layon in the Anjou vineyard over some 90 hectares of mainly schist soils. Chenin vines, subject to the temperate climate and oceanic influences of this geographical area, are planted in this appellation and produce sweet white wines with very good ageing potential (between 5 and 20 years and even longer for certain vintages). These intense and powerful wines are characterized by their aromatic complexity (fig, apricot, pear, plum, hawthorn, acacia, honey, etc.).
