The Riesling is a white grape fruity variety native of Rhine Valley. Associated with the Alsatian vineyard and its mineral terroir, it gives dry and fresh white wines with a floral and delicate bouquet.
Its aromatic strength is important when the cuvée is more like a sweet white wine, either because the grapes are harvested late or because the winemaker makes the most of the noble rot.
The Riesling is part of the four noble varieties that are accepted in the Alsace Grand Cru controlled designation. It has a good aging potential and evolves towards honeyed or smoky aromas after a few years.
