Corsica benefits from an exceptionally diverse terroir. Its high levels of sunshine is enriched with microclimates present on the different designations.

These microclimates are combined with the diversity of soils : granites, limestones, shales and sedimentary alluvium offer Corsica wines a myriad of opportunities.

Thus, one can find as many white floral wines with exotic fruits and citrus notes as stronger red wines high in tannins with red fruits flavours.

There are nine designations that reflect the typicality of the area. One that covers the whole island, the Vin de Pays de l’Île de Beauté and height others Controlled designation of origin : Ajaccio, Muscat du Cap Corse, Patrimonio, Vin de Corse, Calvi (with the Balagne region), Coteaux du Cap Corse, Figari, Porto Vecchio and Sartène.

The wines are mainly rosé or red ones. The red grape varieties include the Sangiovese Toscan (Niellucciu), the Sciaccarellu or the classic Syrah and Grenache which are imported. The white wines production is more anecdotic and essentially based on the Muscat variety as well as the local one « Malvoisie de Corse ».
