Domaine Massas: A Family Vineyard in the Heart of the Gers
Domaine Massas is a family-owned wine estate located in Manciet, in the rolling hills of the Gers, in the Occitanie region of southern France. Founded in 1920 by the great-grandfather of current winemaker Stéphane Garbay, the estate now spans 130 hectares of vineyards, cultivated with respect for both tradition and nature.
An Exceptional Terroir in Gascony
The vineyard is planted across a variety of soils typical of the southwestern wine region: boulbènes, fawn-colored sands, gravel, and loamy clays. This geological diversity enables the production of wines with varied aromatic profiles, fully expressing the character of the IGP Côtes de Gascogne.
Selected Grape Varieties for Expressive Wines
Domaine Massas is planted with 90% white grape varieties (Colombard, Gros Manseng, Ugni Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc) and 10% red grape varieties (Tannat, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon). These grapes are carefully cultivated to produce fruity white wines, fresh rosés, and characterful red wines.
Sustainable and Responsible Viticulture
The estate practices sustainable farming, including single Guyot pruning, vigor control, and mechanical de-budding. This approach respects the environment while ensuring high-quality grapes at every harvest.
Precise Winemaking Expertise
Harvesting takes place at night to preserve the fruit’s freshness. Cold skin maceration and aging on fine lees for six months yield wines with vibrant aromatic intensity, controlled roundness, and a long, lingering finish.
Authentic and Elegant Wines from Gascony
Domaine Massas offers a range of well-balanced wines that reflect both the identity of its terroir and its family heritage. Perfect for lovers of Southwest France wines, the estate stands out for the authenticity, freshness, and mouthfeel volume of its cuvées.
