Domaine Rampon: Authentic Beaujolais crafted by four generations of winemakers
In the heart of the rolling hills of Villié-Morgon, Domaine Christophe & Daniel Rampon cultivates 12.5 hectares of vines with the rigor and passion that only four generations can pass down. Here, Gamay reigns supreme across exceptional terroirs, Morgon, Fleurie, Moulin-à-Vent, Chiroubles, while Chardonnay, planted in 2003, complements a range that is as diverse as it is sincere.
A family history rooted in Beaujolais
It all began with Joséphine and Philibert Delorme, who laid the foundations of the estate. Claudia and Lucien Delorme carried on the legacy, before Mireille and Daniel Rampon took over in 1981, giving the property its current name. Today, Christophe Rampon, the fourth generation, embodies both continuity and evolution, with each bottle reflecting expertise passed down from hand to hand.
On these clay-limestone and granite soils of northern Beaujolais, the vines are cultivated using sustainable and artisanal methods. Goblet pruning, fully manual harvesting, and systematic sorting at harvest ensure a rigorous grape selection. This commitment was recognized in October 2019 with Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification, a guarantee of environmentally respectful vineyard practices.
Exceptional terroirs: Morgon, Fleurie, Moulin-à-Vent & more
The estate spans six Beaujolais appellations, each revealing a unique expression of Gamay Noir à Jus Blanc. Morgon (3.5 ha) embodies depth: sourced from Côte du Py and Les Micouds, it is aged in barrels for six to seven months, developing structure and aromas of black cherry and earth. The “Tradition” cuvée is its finest expression.
Fleurie stands out for its natural elegance. Two plots planted in 1958 and 1965 at the foot of La Madone, facing Mont Blanc, produce a wine with silky tannins and floral aromas. Further north, Moulin-à-Vent, cultivated since 2009 on typical granite soils, offers notes of iris, rose, and ripe fruit, with remarkable aging potential.
Chiroubles, the most delicate of the crus, completes the range with its freshness and violet aromas. In Beaujolais Villages, the estate produces red, rosé, and “Or de Beaujeu,” a Chardonnay-based white with notes of pear and citrus, planted in 2003 and vinified to reveal the finesse of the terroir.
