Château de Bellevue: The Art of Anjou Wines in the Heart of the Loire Valley
Located in Saint-Aubin-de-Luigné, at the very heart of the historic Loire vineyards, Château de Bellevue is a family-run estate that has been cultivating its passion for wine for over a century. Its 35 hectares of vines flourish on sun-kissed slopes, producing a wide range of wines: elegant white wines from Chenin Blanc or Chardonnay, fruity and refreshing rosés made from Grolleau and Gamay, and structured reds crafted from Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
A Family Legacy Since 1894
The history of Château de Bellevue began in 1894, when Hippolyte Tijou acquired the estate. Three years later, the first harvest marked the start of a winemaking tradition passed down through generations. Today, Anne and Hervé Tijou carry on this legacy, combining deep respect for the land with modern expertise.
Diverse Terroirs for Authentic Wines
The estate’s vineyards thrive on varied soils – schist, sand, and clay – allowing each grape variety to express its full character.
- Chenin Blanc: lively, fresh, and elegant
- Chardonnay & Sauvignon: refined aromas and minerality
- Cabernet Franc & Cabernet Sauvignon: structure, complexity, and fruit depth
- Grolleau & Gamay: light-bodied, fresh, and fruit-forward
Sustainable Viticulture and Hand Harvesting
Committed to environmental stewardship, Château de Bellevue has been certified High Environmental Value (HVE Level 3) since 2020. The vines are cultivated with great respect for biodiversity, and most parcels are hand-harvested, ensuring the grapes’ integrity and the precision of aromas in each wine.
Tailored Winemaking
In the winery, tradition meets innovation. Some cuvées are fermented in temperature-controlled tanks to preserve fresh fruit aromas, while others mature in French oak barrels to develop roundness, texture, and complexity. This tailor-made approach reveals the unique personality of each terroir.
