Château Grand Renouil

Still classified as among the best Canon Fronsac wines, Château Grand Renouil disappeared for a while during the Revolution, but re-emerged in 1938 thanks to the Ponty family. The 100% Merlot vines they then planted are now more than 80 years' old and give the wine such a richness and depth that it is often nicknamed the Petrus de Frosnac, and even with fewer than 8000 bottles produced per year, production is even more confidential than its famous cousin. Opulent, intense and yet very elegant, this wine leaves an impression. TASTING NOTES: Château Grand Renouil reveals a symphony of aromas and flavours. Young, we find aromas of blueberry and bitter chocolate. Upon ageing, notes of truffles, coffee and cigars appear. This wine has body, and perfectly combines plenty of power and complexity with silky, elegant tannins, and a very long finish. A great wine demonstrating lots of finesse and elegance.
