Maison Albert Klee: A Family Tradition in the Heart of Alsace
Located in Katzenthal, just 5 km from Colmar, the Albert Klee estate extends over 5 hectares of hillsides offering a rich variety of terroirs (granite, sandstone, clay-limestone, limestone marl). These terroirs, which are suited to the different Alsatian grape varieties, enable us to grow high-quality vines.
The estate is a family-run business, handed down from generation to generation since 1624. Albert Klee devoted his life to understanding and adapting each grape variety to the specific terroir of each plot. Since 2012, his son Jean-François, an agricultural engineer and oenologist, has continued this passionate work to ensure perfect harmony between grape variety and rootstock.
Preserving biodiversity
The estate is committed to sustainable viticulture, with an HVE (High Environmental Value) label. Biodiversity is at the heart of the project, and the estate limits the use of inputs and fertilisers as much as possible. The vines are carefully tended, with controlled vigour and optimised yields.
Parcel-based vinification
To preserve the unique expression of each terroir, Jean-François and his family practise parcel-based vinification, using vats adapted to work with small volumes. In this way, each cuvée reflects the authenticity of its terroir of origin.
Independent winegrowers
As independent winegrowers, Odile, Albert and Jean-François manage the entire process, from growing the vines to selling their wines direct. Their commitment to offering authentic, high-quality products is at the heart of their approach, with particular attention paid to their loyal customers and wine lovers.
