Château du Bois-Huaut is a family estate of the Nantes vineyard, 24 hectares across three Muscadet terroirs, where hand-harvesting remains a signature.
At the heart of the Nantes vineyard, Château du Bois-Huaut farms 24 hectares across three emblematic Muscadet communes. Five generations, a rare hand-harvest (1% of harvests), long ageing on the lees: concentrated, elegant wines full of finesse, to discover direct on Avenue des Vins.
At Château du Bois-Huaut, each wine begins with an exceptional grape. Our priority is to grow fruit at perfect ripeness, able to give birth to concentrated, elegant cuvees full of finesse.
Hand-harvesting, now rare in the Nantes vineyard (barely 1% of harvests), is part of our identity. It allows a rigorous sorting, keeping only the healthiest and most aromatic grapes. Nothing is left to chance: each bunch is selected with care.

Five generations of family history
For more than five generations, Château du Bois-Huaut has been passed down within the same family line, from the Brin to the Lussaud, then to the Duret today. From a small mixed-farming holding, the estate turned towards viticulture, gradually developing its area and its diversity of grapes.
In 1984, Stéphane Duret chose direct sales, strengthening the bond with wine lovers. In 2016, Luis Duret brought a breath of modernity with the complete renovation of the tasting cellar, now warm, comfortable and convivial.
A rich and varied terroir
Our 24 hectares stretch over three emblematic Muscadet communes: Gorges, Mouzillon and Clisson. Each block has a unique geological identity:
Clisson. Clay soils rich in flint, with a granite bedrock.
Gorges. Clay-siliceous soils with granite, mica-schist and gabbro.
Mouzillon. Clay-loam soils resting on deep gabbro.
This mosaic of terroirs, combined with a favourable climate and an ideal exposure, gives our wines their personality and aromatic richness.
Respectful, demanding work in the vineyard
We tend our vines all year round, to the rhythm of the seasons: planting, tying, de-budding, soil care, harvest and winter pruning. Natural grassing and reasoned cultural practices preserve biodiversity and soil vitality. Our team of pickers, around thirty passionate people, ensures a selective harvest to guarantee perfect grapes.
Precise, respectful winemaking
For us, a great wine is made first in the vineyard. But in the cellar, every detail counts: a pneumatic press for gentle pressing, a cooling unit to control fermentations, long ageing on the lees for complexity and roundness. Since 2010, this equipment has allowed us to fully reveal the expression of the terroir.
