Vegan dishes: which wines to pair with them?
Luckily for enthusiasts, wine pairs well with both vegetables and meat and cheese. Here are two wine suggestions that will perfectly complement 100% vegan dishes.
1. WITH STUFFED ZUCCHINI: A PROVENCE ROSÉ
The vegan diet involves eliminating all animal-derived products from one's diet, including (among others) meat, cheese, and eggs. However, there are certainly recipes that are both flavorful and hearty without these ingredients. One such dish is stuffed zucchini with small vegetables, which is very popular during the summer. This dish calls for a rosé from the south with fruity aromas and delicate tannins. Languedoc, South-West, Provence: you have plenty of options.
The rosé wine By Olivier from Château du Grand Jas in AOC Côtes de Provence will be ideal for this pairing. This wine, both fresh and complex, will complement the soft texture of the zucchini and vegetables, while its aromas of strawberry and raspberry will add a pleasant touch to the southern character of the dish.

2. WITH RATATOUILLE TART: A LANGUEDOC RED
Another dish that enjoys certain success within the vegan community is ratatouille tart. This quintessential summer meal poses a bit of a challenge in terms of pairing with wine. The reason is that its rich composition must balance multiple flavors, from the acidity of the tomato to the bitterness of the eggplant, with the sweetness of zucchini and marinated peppers.
To get it right, opt for a round, fruity wine with silky tannins and a strong character to match the contrasting flavors. The "Les Baronnets" red wine from Domaine de Figueirasse in IGP Sable de Camargue (Languedoc) perfectly meets these criteria.
This wine features a gourmand nose with aromas of garrigue, spices, and black olive that will echo the summery flavors of the ratatouille.

FAQ - Wine and vegan dishes
Does a vegan dish work better with red, white or rosé wine?
It depends on how the dish is cooked. Summer vegetables and light starters often call for a fresh rosé or white, while a simmered, well-seasoned plate finds its balance with a supple red whose tannins have softened.
At what temperature should a Provence rosé be served with vegetables?
Serve it between 8 and 10 °C. That coolness keeps its red-fruit notes and acidity lively, two qualities that answer the mild sweetness of sun-ripened vegetables.
Which wine suits a tomato-based dish?
Tomato brings acidity, so you want a wine that meets it without turning harsh. A round, fruity Languedoc red or a structured rosé holds up to that sharpness while leaving the other flavours room to show.
Can you pair wine with grilled or marinated vegetables?
Yes. Grilling and marinating add a touch of bitterness and smoke that sits well beside a southern red with notes of garrigue and spice, or a fuller, more food-friendly rosé.
How many bottles should I plan for a vegan meal with guests?
Allow roughly one bottle for four to five guests over a starter, slightly more for the main course. A single versatile wine, a rosé or a light red, is often enough to carry several plant-based dishes.
