The Domaine Rémi Pouizin was born from a deep connection with the land and a family history intimately linked to living things. Rémi grew up among vegetable gardens, fields, vineyards, and the smells of the cellar. He evolved in this rural world, where manual work, living products, and sincere human relationships occupied a central place. Coming from a family that was committed very early to organic farming, he inherited foundational values from his grandparents: respect for the soil, humility in the face of nature, and the taste for well-done work. From a very young age, he already knew that his future would be in the vineyard.

What are the roots of the Domaine Rémi Pouizin?

A family adventure born from the earth

This unknown alchemy, making beautiful bottles and selling them, that was what I wanted to do, be a winemaker and nothing else,

confides Rémi.

In 2014, with his wife Géraldine, Rémi decided to create his own estate in order to gain freedom and align more closely with his convictions. This new beginning marked a decisive step: building an estate in their image, independent and deeply rooted in life. That year, despite difficult climatic conditions, collective energy and the strength of the project allowed them to lay the foundations of a strong family adventure, shared with their children. Today, the estate covers about twenty hectares around Visan, in the south of the Rhône Valley, and is defined above all as a place of creation, experimentation, and transmission.

How does Rémi work the vines?

A living viticulture

The philosophy of Domaine Rémi Pouizin is based on a sensitive agronomic approach, founded on listening to the soil, the plant, and the climate. The vines are managed organically, without dogmatism but with rigor: natural cover crops, light tillage, homemade composts, herbal teas, and interventions limited to the essentials. This way of working aims to strengthen soil vitality and promote balanced grapes, capable of faithfully expressing their terroir.

We can only touch the potential of the creative possibilities that nature and life offer us,

The estate’s plots are spread over a mosaic of soils (sands, marls, gravel, red clay) typical of the Drôme Provençale. This geological diversity allows Rhône grape varieties such as Grenache, Syrah, Marsanne, and Viognier to naturally find their place. Sun exposure, the mistral wind, and ground cover contribute to preserving freshness and tension in the wines. Rémi aims above all to express the identity of each plot, without over-ripeness or standardization.

he recalls, emphasizing the importance of remaining humble in the face of nature.

What kind of wines does the estate produce?

Living, sincere, and free wines

In the winery, the work continues that of the vineyard, never seeking to denature what nature has provided. Fermentations start naturally, extractions are gentle, and aging is adapted to the personality of the vintage. No unnecessary additions, no fixed recipes. The wine always remains faithful to the year, the grape variety, and the terroir. This approach gives rise to aromatic, fresh, and vibrant cuvées, designed above all as wines of pleasure.

“Creator of living and sincere wines,” a motto that sums up the spirit of the estate.

Among the cuvées, Rémi particularly identifies with Libre Grenache, a wine with intense aromas, silky tannins, and an airy texture, which he describes as a metaphor for his vision: a wine without ties, free and light. Rémi and Géraldine continue today to develop the estate with the ambition of sharing their work and passing on the love of the craft to their five children!
