Portraits of winemakers
Château Ogier de Gourgue: like father, like daughter
Jean-Marc was working in the construction industry, while Claire was in cosmetics, two very different worlds that seemed unlikely to bring this father and daughter together in a professional capacity. However, for over three years, they have been managing the Château Ogier de Gourgue vineyard as a team.
Available directly from the estate on Avenue des Vins.
How did the estate come into the family?
Father-Daughter Partnership
My father was a business owner. Seven years ago, he decided to leave everything behind to focus on his passion: wine. He began exploring the Bordeaux region in search of a domain. That’s how he discovered Château Ogier de Gourgue. It was love at first sight. In February 2010, he officially became its owner,
recounts Claire.
What made Claire join the adventure?
A shared project
Two years later, Claire left her position at Sephora to join her father in this new venture.
I was starting to feel like I had reached a plateau in my job, and I wanted a change. The idea of building a project with my father was very appealing to me.
At Château Ogier de Gourgue, responsibilities are clearly divided: Jean-Marc handles everything related to winemaking, while Claire oversees sales and communications. As for the harvests, they work together, assisted by seasonal pickers.
How are the grapes harvested and selected?
Harvesting Exclusively by Hand
We carry out the harvest by hand, provided the weather conditions are favorable,
explains Jean-Marc. The winemaking process follows a precise method:
Before entering the winery, the grapes are placed on an optical sorting table, which allows us to distinguish intact berries from damaged ones, remove any foreign objects, and sort the grapes according to their ripeness. In the end, we only keep the healthy berries that are sufficiently ripe for vinification,
details Jean-Marc.
Why buy directly from the winemaker? The wines of Château Ogier de Gourgue are shipped straight from the estate: estate price with no middleman, full vintage traceability, and your support for an independent winegrowing family.

Frequently asked questions about Château Ogier de Gourgue
Where is Château Ogier de Gourgue located?
The estate lies in the Bordeaux vineyards, within the Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. Jean-Marc bought it in 2010 after searching the region for the right property.
Who runs Château Ogier de Gourgue?
Jean-Marc and his daughter Claire Vincent have run the estate together for more than three years. One came from construction, the other from cosmetics, and both left their careers to take over the property.
How is the harvest carried out at the estate?
Picking is done entirely by hand, as soon as the weather allows. Father and daughter work the rows side by side, helped by seasonal pickers.
How are the grapes sorted before winemaking?
Before going into the vats, the bunches pass over an optical sorting table. This step removes damaged berries and foreign matter, keeping only fruit that is healthy and ripe enough.
How do Jean-Marc and Claire divide the work?
Jean-Marc handles the winemaking while Claire looks after sales and communication. Harvest time stays a shared effort for the two of them.
