Portraits of winemakers
Château Sainte-Roseline, a Provence classified growth
Located in the Var region, in the heart of Provence, Château Sainte Roseline is a prestigious wine estate, classified as an AOP Côtes de Provence Grand Cru Classé since 1955. This family-owned property, heir to a historic vineyard founded in the 14th century, embodies both tradition and modernity. Aurélie Bertin, daughter of Bernard Teillaud, passionately continues the work initiated by her father while guiding the estate toward sustainable development. The clay-limestone terroir, combined with the Mediterranean climate and the team’s expertise, gives the wines of Château Sainte Roseline their unique character.
Available directly from the estate on Avenue des Vins.
How did Aurélie Bertin come to lead the estate?
From childhood passion to running production
Aurélie Bertin’s passion for wine began in childhood at Château des Demoiselles, another family property located in La Motte-en-Provence. After joining her father in 2007 to oversee production, she has devoted herself to bringing both technical precision and emotion to each of her cuvées. Among her fondest memories is the recognition of the 2004 vintage of the red wine La Chapelle de Sainte Roseline, ranked among the top sixty wines during a blind tasting by the Grand Jury Européen alongside the greatest classified growths of Bordeaux. This achievement perfectly illustrates the quality of the work accomplished and the desire to make Provençal wines shine on the international stage.
What guides the estate’s approach to winemaking?
A philosophy focused on quality and the future
At the helm of Château Sainte Roseline, Aurélie Bertin upholds a clear vision: to preserve the richness of the terroir while producing elegant, aromatic, and balanced wines. Her philosophy is based on an environmentally respectful approach, controlled grass cover between the vines, the use of biocontrol products, and gentle pruning methods. The goal is to achieve optimal grape ripeness while minimizing impact on natural resources. The entire estate is also in the process of conversion to organic farming and holds the Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification, a testament to its respect for nature and commitment to sustainable production.
The estate is also deeply involved in reducing waste and preserving biodiversity through the creation of ecological corridors and the recycling of organic materials.
What makes the estate a destination beyond its wines?
A meeting place for art, wine, and history
Château Sainte Roseline is far more than a wine-producing estate, it is also a vibrant cultural and artistic destination. The Chapelle Sainte Roseline attracts many visitors each year who come to admire its artistic and spiritual heritage. The estate also hosts summer art exhibitions, guided tours, and private events in an exceptional setting. This prestigious venue is perfectly suited for weddings, seminars, or concerts with live DJs. Every detail, from the modern cellar to the wine bar, reflects the estate’s motto:
“For those for whom living is an art…”
The spirit of the place can be felt along the plane tree-lined avenue leading to the property, where culture, heritage, and wine tourism come together. Classified as a historic site, the estate harmoniously combines winemaking and public hospitality. The Chapelle Sainte Roseline, the estate’s historical jewel, houses the relics of Saint Roseline and a mosaic by Chagall, a true symbol of the meeting between art and wine. From the harvest hall to the wood-paneled room and the barrel cellar, visitors can explore the estate’s winemaking facilities and taste its signature wines, including the renowned Cuvée Lampe de Méduse and Cuvée Collection.
Why buy directly from the winemaker? The wines of Château Sainte-Roseline are shipped straight from the estate: estate price with no middleman, full vintage traceability, and your support for an independent winegrowing family.
