"Les Epinettes" is a place in the terroir of Verzy on a chalky, north-west facing soil, within which the Penet family owns a historic parcel growing 100% Pinot Noir, with soil tillage, and aged for more than forty years. The wine, made from grapes that are carefully selected on-site at the parcel of land, vinified separately in small vats without malolactic fermentation, presents like a great Pinot Noir right from the outset. Particularly focussed, it offers an aromatic complexity and an exceptional richness, combined with a very long mineral finish; a reflection of the limestone sub-soil from which it originates. It is a great wine for laying down. The bottle, oak in colour, has a specific shape, rounded yet slender, and particularly well suited for wine conservation.
