The great wines of the Bugey: Domaine Yves Duport
Domaine Yves Duport
A family maison of the Bugey for four generations, in organic farming (and biodynamics on certain plots). 12 hectares of clay-limestone slopes facing the Rhone, around the Montagnieu cru. Altesse, Mondeuse, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir.
For four generations, the family Maison Yves Duport has crafted exceptional wines made exclusively from organic viticulture and, on certain plots, biodynamics. The estate now spans 12 hectares, planted on clay-limestone slopes facing South/South-East, opposite the Rhone, offering optimal sunshine and a terroir rich in expression.
A philosophy: accompany nature
The estate's vision is simple but demanding: to let nature express itself without distorting it. Like a composer interpreting a score, the winegrower works the vine, its soil and the climate of the vintage to create a true aromatic symphony. The soils are maintained by ploughing to favour microbial life and biodiversity; the vines naturally draw from the soil everything they need to reach their balance.

Organic and biodynamic farming
Since 2007, Domaine Yves Duport has been entirely run in organic farming and biodynamics on certain plots. This approach fully expresses the typicity of the terroirs and produces structured wines, made for ageing.
Respectful and precise winemaking
Winemaking rests on a balance between traditional methods and controlled technical innovations. The exclusive use of indigenous yeasts guarantees a faithful expression of the terroir, while the low sulphite content preserves aromatic purity. To stop fermentation, filtration is preferred to chemical processes, reducing inputs to a minimum and respecting the integrity of the wine.
The Bugey, harlequin of soils
The Bugey vineyard offers a mosaic of soils, all limestone but with varied characteristics: white marly clay of the Montagnieu cru, ideal for Altesse (Roussette) and Mondeuse; morainic clay-siliceous hills, where Chardonnay reveals all its finesse; clay-limestone scree, perfect for red grapes such as Pinot Noir.
