Château Roubine: a historic Cru Classé at the heart of sustainable Provence

Between Lorgues and Draguignan, in the heart of inland Provence, Château Roubine stands as one of the oldest and most emblematic estates in the French vineyard landscape. Its history dates back to the 14th century, and since 1955 it has belonged to the very exclusive circle of the 23 Crus Classés of Côtes de Provence. A rare and demanding distinction, as much a commitment as it is a mark of excellence.

Today, the estate covers 130 hectares, including 72 hectares of vineyards, planted on naturally free-draining clay-limestone soils. The very name Roubine—meaning “stream” in Provençal—tells the story of this intimate bond between water, land and vine, the foundation of a precise and balanced approach to viticulture.

A living terroir, shaped for excellence

The east–west exposure of the vineyard ensures even and progressive sunlight, ideal for slow and complete ripening of the grapes. Here, each plot is conceived as a complete ecosystem: living soils, preserved biodiversity and carefully measured interventions.

Since 1994, the estate has been led by Valérie Rousselle, who has infused a modern dynamic without ever breaking with the soul of the place. Under her direction, Château Roubine has committed to sustainable viticulture, certified in sustainable farming since 2017, with several cuvées now produced under Organic Agriculture.
The objective is clear: to produce wines of character while respecting the natural balance of the terroir.

A deeply rooted Provençal history

Château Roubine is a living witness to the history of Provence.
Already known in Antiquity, crossed by the Roman Julian Way, it passed during the Middle Ages into the hands of the Templars, then the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem. Over the centuries, it belonged to major Provençal families before being divided during the French Revolution.

Its contemporary revival follows this same continuity: preserve, transmit, elevate. Today, the estate offers a true immersion into the world of wine, between the Verdon and the Mediterranean, surrounded by pines, oaks and olive trees. A place where the connection between nature, history and creation can be physically felt.

Expressive, precise and gastronomic wines

With 13 carefully selected grape varieties, including Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah, Château Roubine crafts wines that are elegant, balanced and deeply Provençal.

The red wines reveal fine structure, well-managed tannins and a complex bouquet combining black fruits, ripe red fruits and gentle spices.

The white wines charm with their freshness, roundness and floral and exotic notes, carried by a vibrant tension.

The rosé wines, true signatures of the estate, display a luminous color, a fresh and persistent palate, and delicate aromas of red fruits and citrus.

Each cuvée is a faithful reflection of the terroir, the vintage and the meticulous work carried out both in the vineyard and in the cellar.

An essential reference of the Côtes de Provence

Cru Classé, historic estate, committed to sustainable and responsible viticulture, Château Roubine embodies an authentic Provence—demanding and future-focused. A vineyard where long-term vision, precision and respect for living ecosystems give rise to sincere, elegant and deeply distinctive wines.
