A site steeped in history, from the medieval castle to today
The origins of Haut-Gleon go back a long way: a medieval castle documented as early as 1223, on lands marked by Gallo-Roman and Visigothic heritage. Today, the estate has been run since 2012 by Les Vignobles Foncalieu, who perpetuate the winegrowing vocation of the place, in Villeseque-des-Corbieres, at the heart of a preserved domain of garrigue and forest.

A mosaic of terroirs
At Haut-Gleon, the terroir is made of varied soils (Quaternary terraces, clay-limestone scree, gravettes over decalcification clay) with different exposures. A mosaic of terroirs and expressions that the oenologists blend with talent, while the Vallee du Paradis microclimate brings that freshness so rare in Corbieres.
The vineyard offers a broad palette of grapes: in white, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Marsanne; in red, Merlot, Syrah, Carignan, Grenache Noir, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir. Château Haut-Gléon produces mostly red wines (about 80%), as well as whites and roses (about 20%).
