Château de Durette: The Authentic Soul of Beaujolais Wines
A recent history, a pioneering spirit: In 2007, in Régnié-Durette, Jean Joly decided to found Château de Durette, driven by the desire to produce great Beaujolais wines. A modern stainless-steel winery was quickly built, offering the best conditions for winemaking. Today, the estate cultivates 30 hectares of vines spread across the most prestigious appellations of the region.
Beaujolais wines with multiple expressions
Château de Durette offers a rich and diverse range:
- 7 Beaujolais Crus (Régnié, Juliénas, Fleurie, Moulin-à-Vent, Chénas, Morgon, Côte de Brouilly)
- Beaujolais Blanc and Beaujolais Villages Rosé
- Traditional Method: Crémant de Bourgogne and Bulles Roses
Each wine expresses its own personality: fragrant, structured, fruity, or delicately floral. All share the same ambition: to reflect their terroir with sincerity and elegance.
A passionate Belgian-French team
Behind every cuvée, there is a united and passionate team. Anna, André, and Marc share their know-how and their love for the Beaujolais terroirs. Their motto: to create wines “to drink,” accessible, generous, and faithful to their origins.
A diverse and respectful vineyard
Since its creation, the estate has been committed to sustainable viticulture, attentive to both the vine and its environment. Harvesting is done by hand, ensuring precise selection of the grapes and respectful winemaking. Since 2018, part of the vineyard has been in conversion to organic farming, confirming the commitment to combine quality with sustainability.
The Beaujolais Crus of Château de Durette
Régnié: An elegant ruby-red wine with aromas of cherry and red berries, enhanced by a spicy and floral touch. Structured yet delicate, it is often called the “feminine wine” of Beaujolais. Available as Côte de Durette, Vieilles Vignes, and Oak-Aged.
Chénas: The rarest of the crus, with deep color intensity and great depth. Barrel-aged, it combines power and elegance with woody and fruity notes. Excellent with game, spicy dishes, and aged cheeses.
Juliénas: Generous and full-bodied, Juliénas delights with aromas of violet, cinnamon, redcurrant, and peony. On the palate, it reveals power and balance, with a long and slightly spicy finish.
Morgon: Structured and powerful, it expresses the richness of its schist and volcanic soils. The famous Côte du Py terroir produces age-worthy wines of great intensity. People often say Morgon “morgonnes,” as it so perfectly embodies its terroir.
Côte de Brouilly: From the slopes of Mont Brouilly, it shows a purple robe and notes of fresh grapes. Delicate and lively, it gains complexity over time, offering remarkable elegance.
Moulin-à-Vent: Nicknamed the “lord of Beaujolais,” it is both structured and complex. Its aromas of violet, cherry, and spices evolve into truffle and musk after a few years. A true age-worthy wine, capable of aging for over 10 years.
Fleurie: Renowned for its finesse and elegance, it enchants with floral aromas of violet, rose, and iris, combined with fruity notes. A fleshy, silky wine, full of delicacy.
The other wines of the estate
- Beaujolais Blanc (Chardonnay): a subtle balance between roundness and freshness, ideal with fish and seafood.
- Beaujolais Villages Rosé: light, fruity, refreshing, perfect for summer.
- Bulles Roses – Traditional Method: a festive sparkling wine with red fruit aromas.
- Crémant de Bourgogne: 100% Chardonnay, refined, floral, and elegant.
