Champagne DUVAT: A family history between tradition and modernization
Since 1851, the Duvat family has been perpetuating winegrowing know-how handed down from generation to generation. It all began with an Alsatian ancestor with a passion for vines, who settled in Champagne in 1870 and laid the foundations of the family business. It was in 1950 that the estate took a new turn with Elisabeth and Albéric Duvat, who modernized the facilities while remaining faithful to the artisan spirit of their predecessors.
As early as 1951, Albéric Duvat equipped the estate with a 2000 kg Vaslin press, then at the cutting edge of innovation, then in 1958 created his own Champagne DUVAT brand, distinct from the original one, Alexandre NAU. In 1991, their son Xavier Duvat took over the reins and continued to modernize the estate, installing a contemporary winery and a 4,000 kg Willmes membrane press.
A family business with roots, looking to the future
In 2010, the succession took shape with the arrival of Léonard Duvat, representing the fifth generation, trained in the vine and wine professions. Today, the estate extends over 10 hectares spread between the Marne, Aisne and Aube, three key departments in the Champagne wine region.
The vineyard cultivates the three Champagne grape varieties: Chardonnay (50%), Pinot Meunier (30%) and Pinot Noir (20%), carefully worked to reflect the diversity of terroirs and the unique identity of each cuvée. Between respect for tradition, technical innovation and family passion, Maison DUVAT creates authentic champagnes, the fruit of a balance between high standards, modernity and heritage.
