A “château” for a cult mascot

A character like this needed a place to match. In 2005, Château Arrogant Frog was created near the village of Gaja-et-Villedieu, in the Limoux hinterland.

Situated between 150 and 200 metres above sea level and around 100 kilometres from the Mediterranean, the vineyard benefits from a more temperate climate, influenced by oceanic airflows, ideal for preserving freshness, balance and aromatic expression.

A terroir suited to high-quality pleasure wines

The vineyard covers around twenty hectares, planted on clay-limestone soils mixed with gravel, schist and clay. These soils provide the vines with a regular water supply and allow for even grape ripening.

The grape varieties grown — Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Mauzac and Syrah — are between 11 and 33 years old. Controlled yields of around 45 hl/ha and a planting density of 6,000 vines per hectare ensure concentrated grapes, perfectly suited to producing aromatic and well-balanced wines.
