This estate, acquired in 2002 by Justin Onclin, who also manages Prieuré-Lichine in Margaux and owns Château Villemaurine in Saint-Émilion, has been masterfully run and has established itself as a benchmark for quality in the region.

The vineyard is distinguished by its exceptional gravel terroir and its prime location on the Médoc peninsula. In 2002, the estate covered just five hectares. Today, with 17 hectares and a renovated infrastructure, it produces wines that rival the very best.

The Moulis-en-Médoc appellation is one of the satellite appellations of the most famous Grand Crus Classés, such as Margaux, Saint-Julien, and Pauillac. Alongside Listrac-en-Médoc and Moulis, it is one of those connoisseur appellations with superb potential that, when placed in expert hands, gives rise to some of the greatest wines of Bordeaux.

Arjen Pen, a winemaker and true competitor, leads the estate, striving to make each vintage a new success. His mission, along with the Château's, is to preserve and enhance the estate's heritage while evolving it in the pursuit of excellence.

His latest project involves planting new Cabernet Sauvignon parcels to balance the estate's varietals. The current varietal composition consists of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot.

The goal? A carefully controlled evolution to maintain the signature of Branas Grand Poujeaux, its purity, richness, and complexity. The blend results in a wine with an intense, ample bouquet that is round yet tense.
