The estate covers around 8.5 hectares of vines planted on schist hillsides, an emblematic terroir of the appellation. An adventure on the schist soils of Faugères

It’s a story of passion, a love-at-first-sight, and transmission,

sums up the birth of La Folie Vigneronne.

The estate’s story is recent but deeply shaped by a meeting and a handover. In 2022, Anne-Sophie took over the estate from Véronique and André Balliccioni, winemakers established in the appellation for more than 25 years. This relay fits into a logic of continuity while opening a new chapter for the vineyard. Anne-Sophie, backed by long experience in wine sales and training in viticulture and oenology, then decided to bring her family along on this new adventure.

How is the vineyard farmed?

A committed approach respectful of the terroir

From the moment the estate was taken over, conversion to organic farming was launched to place the domaine within a more responsible approach. Clearly focused on respect for the environment and biodiversity, Domaine La Folie Vigneronne favors reasoned practices and limits inputs, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. This pragmatic approach aims to produce straightforward, stable wines while preserving an authentic expression of the terroir.

Developing the estate while strengthening ecological commitment and the use of native grape varieties

remains one of the goals for the years to come.

The vineyard is made up of several parcels spread across the schist slopes of Faugères. The vines, averaging around thirty years old, host the main traditional red grape varieties of the appellation: Carignan, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault. The very old Carignan vines hold a special place in the estate’s red cuvées. For whites and rosés, Grenache Blanc and Bourboulenc bring freshness and aromatic expression. Harvesting is mostly done by hand, in the cool morning hours, in order to preserve grape quality and the wines’ aromatic precision.

La Folie Vigneronne’s philosophy translates into elegant, fine, expressive wines. The wines are crafted to reflect the personality of the grape varieties and the minerality of the Faugères terroir. This search for balance gives rise to characterful yet approachable wines, where the fruit and spice aromas typical of the appellation express themselves with precision.

The wine that represents us best? Our Pure cuvée, for its fruity, dense side and the use of very old Carignan vines,

Among the emblematic cuvées, Pure is best enjoyed with a good aged rib of beef, and above all around a table full of friends. Beyond the cuvées themselves, La Folie Vigneronne also stands out for its spirit of sharing. The first open day held in June 2023 remains a strong memory for the team, symbolizing the moment the wines were presented to the public in a friendly atmosphere.
