The Sommelier's Tips
How to Open a Wine Bottle Like a Pro?
How to Open a Bottle of Wine Easily with a Sommelier Knife
Opening a bottle of wine is simple when you use the right accessories. All you need are three essential items: a proper glass, the wine bottle, and most importantly, the sommelier knife. This iconic tool has three key parts: the serrated knife, the lever, and the spiral worm.
Preparing the Bottle Before Opening
First of all, place the wine bottle on a stable surface, with the label facing your guests or audience if you are giving a demonstration. Then, use the serrated knife to cut the foil capsule covering the cork, and remove it completely. You will then see the top part of the cork, known as the mirror.
Inserting the Corkscrew Properly
Take the corkscrew worm and place its tip in the center of the mirror, then gently twist to insert it. Once you reach the last notch, position the lever on the side of the bottle’s neck and lift slightly using the first step, then the second.
Removing the Cork Without Breaking It
Lift a second time to bring out three-quarters of the cork. To avoid breaking it, hold the cork firmly in your hand and pull gently. That’s it—your bottle is now opened with elegance and ease.
The Joy of Wine Tasting
Once the cork is removed, all that’s left is to enjoy the most delightful part: tasting your wine. Pour into beautiful glasses and fully savor the wine experience with your guests.
