How did Château Clarisse come to life?

The founding of the estate

The journey to establishing this estate was not an easy one. After years of meticulous searching, Olivia and Didier acquired an exceptional vineyard property on the Puisseguin plateau, one of the four satellite villages of Saint-Émilion. The name "Château Clarisse" was chosen with care, honoring their daughter born a year before the release of their first vintage in 2010.

The couple drew inspiration from their deep-rooted family connections to viticulture. Didier, having grown up in Cadaujac, always had an interest in the wine market, while Olivia reminisces about her childhood among the vines of Haut Médoc. This heritage fueled their entrepreneurial ambition and led to the realization of their dream.

How has the vineyard changed over the years?

A vineyard in constant evolution

Over the years, the estate has undergone numerous transformations. Expanding from 5 hectares to around 20, the vineyard has seen many plots uprooted and replanted, with a diversification of grape varieties. In response to climatic challenges, particularly summer heatwaves, the estate has opted for a balanced proportion of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, ensuring fresh and well-structured wines. The surprises don’t end there: in 2024, Château Clarisse will introduce its first white wine, a 100% Chardonnay, a bold move for the region.

Environmental respect is central to Château Clarisse's philosophy. Olivia and Didier, in close collaboration with INRA, have invested in preserving and revitalizing their woods, planting new hedges, and establishing a vegetable garden and beehives. These efforts aim to sustain biodiversity and enhance their environment for future generations.

Château Clarisse is notably distinguished by its rich range of cuvées, each with its own unique identity.

Castillon is the quintessential summer wine. With its light and refreshing aromatic profile, it pairs perfectly with barbecue evenings. The wine’s flavors blend seamlessly with grilled meats, creating an unforgettable tasting experience.
