In the heart of the prestigious lands of Saint-Emilion, listed as UNESCO World Heritage, Chateau Clarisse was born from the wish of Olivia and Didier Le Calvez to return to the essential: to produce a wine of character, rooted in an exceptional terroir. Since 2010, this passionate couple has crafted cuvees inspired by their personal history, their love of wine, and a constant quest for quality.
A privileged terroir in the service of excellence
The vineyard covers 24 hectares, including 3 hectares of preserved woodland. Set on the limestone plateau of Puisseguin at over 100 metres of altitude, it benefits from a rare clay-limestone soil, including starred limestone that gives the wines depth and minerality. The varietal mix is finely considered: 35% Merlot, 60% Cabernet Franc, with a touch of Petit Verdot and Carmenere. Since 2020, a micro-parcel of Chardonnay has enriched the offer, giving a vibrant, expressive white. The harvest, done by hand, preserves the quality of the grapes while respecting the life of the soils.
Sustainable viticulture at the heart of the estate's values
From 2009, Chateau Clarisse turned towards reasoned farming, beginning its conversion to organic farming in 2016. Certification was obtained in 2019, testifying to a deep commitment to the land and biodiversity.

Agroforestry, mycorrhizae and natural balance
The estate relies on the benefits of trees to create a natural balance between the vine and its environment. In summer, the shade provided by the plantings limits water stress. Underground, mycorrhizae, symbiotic fungi, create a nutritive network between the roots of the trees and those of the vines, acting like true water pumps, a crucial asset in a context of climate warming. With the support of INRA and the National Forestry Office, 3.5 hectares of woodland have been cleared, country hedges replanted, and agroforestry practices developed. Respect for biodiversity is also expressed through a seasonal vegetable garden and beehives set up in the woods with a local beekeeper.

From white to reds for keeping, the range of Chateau Clarisse brings together four signature cuvees, from Puisseguin Saint-Emilion to Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux, by way of a Chardonnay in Vin de France. Each expresses, in its own way, the elegance and generosity of the limestone terroir of Puisseguin.
