Champagne Paul-Antoine Chrétien
Located in Rouvres-les-Vignes, in the heart of the Côte des Bar, the Champagne Paul-Antoine Chrétien estate has been built around a family history and a deep connection to its terroir. Partly taken over in 2020 by Paul-Antoine Chrétien, the vineyard continues the winemaking tradition of his parents, with a clear desire to preserve the family spirit while developing a distinct identity of its own. The release of the first bottles in 2024 marks a founding milestone, that of a winemaker who chooses to highlight a sincere Champagne, crafted largely by his own hands, from vineyard work to labeling.

Who is behind the estate and what does it stand for?
A family estate in the Côte des Bar
The estate is built day after day around strong values of hard work, rigor, and team spirit,
Paul-Antoine emphasizes when describing the estate's DNA.
In Rouvres-les-Vignes, the hillsides and limestone soils tell the story of an ancient winegrowing heritage, far removed from the bustle of the large Champagne houses. Paul-Antoine embraces this authentic expression of Champagne and seeks to translate it into each of his cuvées. His philosophy is based on respect for nature and on Champagnes that faithfully reflect the typicity of the Côte des Bar.
The estate moves forward step by step, driven by collective work in which every woman and every man matters as much as the vine itself.
“Cultivate your pleasure,” a simple motto that perfectly captures the spirit of the estate.
What drew Paul-Antoine to Champagne?
Passion, heritage, and commitment
The son of winegrowers, Paul-Antoine grew up to the rhythm of the seasons and vineyard work. While he readily says he “fell into it as a child,” his calling truly took shape during his BTS studies at the Avize winegrowing school between 2010 and 2012. This training strengthened his desire to fully commit to Champagne, bringing together technical rigor and personal sensitivity.
Every day counts, every action is decisive. The journey itself can sometimes be just as important as the final goal,
he explains when describing his vision of the profession.
Collective work plays a central role in this adventure. Paul-Antoine places great importance on human relationships, convinced that team cohesion is essential for moving forward with confidence. The fact that some couples have formed among seasonal workers in his vineyards illustrates the spirit that prevails at the estate and gives full meaning to the notion of a family-run operation.
This human dimension fuels Paul-Antoine's motivation, along with his passion and the support of his family.
Passion, my family, and the desire to achieve some of my dreams are what get me out of bed every morning,
Paul-Antoine confides.
How are the Champagnes made?
Champagnes true to their terroir
Both in the vineyard and in the cellar, the estate follows an environmentally respectful approach. Inherited from a collective commitment spanning more than 20 years, sustainable viticulture is now recognized through the VDC (Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne) and HVE (High Environmental Value) certifications.
Paul-Antoine works the vines in harmony with the natural cycle, with exclusively manual harvesting to preserve the quality of the musts. Fermentations are carried out in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, combining tradition and innovation to precisely reveal the terroir's typicity. Above all, the estate seeks freshness, sincerity, and balance. Paul-Antoine particularly identifies with extra-brut Champagne:
An extra-brut Champagne for its freshness, typicity, and sincerity
, the style that resembles him most.
Among the short-term projects, a new cuvée is currently in development to enrich the range. In the longer term, a guesthouse project is under consideration to develop wine tourism and strengthen ties with visitors. Each bottle is thus intended to reflect a place, a terroir, a savoir-faire, and a clear commitment to offering a deeply human Champagne.
