Portraits of winemakers
Champagne Christiane Guillaumée: bubbles for women
That’s why we have chosen Christiane Guillaumée, a determined Champagne winemaker with a strong character.
Available directly from the estate on Avenue des Vins.
How would you define your Champagne?
A Champagne Defined by a Woman
Elegance, finesse, and excellence.
These are the terms used by Christiane Guillaumée to define her approach to Champagne.
Somewhat like a woman,
adds the winemaker, who remains one of the few women in the region producing and marketing her own wine. And to achieve this, she faces every challenge, including those posed by Mother Nature.
What role does the Aube terroir play in the wine?
A demanding climate
Located in the Aube region, Domaine Christiane Guillaumée is exposed to a unique climate. With an average annual temperature of 11°C and low rainfall, maintaining the vineyards is no small feat.
But paradoxically, these weather conditions allow for grapes of exceptional quality, which provide the freshness and finesse needed to produce great Champagne !
explains Christiane Guillaumée.
How are the grapes harvested and vinified?
Harvesting Exclusively by Hand
When it comes to harvesting, the winemaker adheres strictly to the traditions of her region: she dons her gloves and uses her secateurs to pick the grapes entirely by hand. The grapes are then placed in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, another hallmark of Champagne winemaking.
Domaine Champagne Guillaumée is also committed to a reasoned viticulture approach, a method developed since the 1990s that involves treating the vines with phytosanitary products only when absolutely necessary.
What can you expect in the glass?
Tasting notes and pairings
Dressed in a beautiful salmon-colored robe, this cuvée releases aromas of almond, poppy, and red fruits. Smooth and generous, the palate reveals a lovely roundness and a great freshness on the finish.
Ideal for a Christmas meal, this rosé Champagne is perfect as an aperitif and pairs beautifully with fish and fruity desserts.
Why buy directly from the winemaker? The wines of Champagne Christiane Guillaumée are shipped straight from the estate: estate price with no middleman, full vintage traceability, and your support for an independent winegrowing family.
Discover the wines of Champagne Christiane Guillaumée directly from the estate, at the estate price, in a short supply chain on Avenue des Vins.
Frequently asked questions about Champagne Christiane Guillaumée
Where is the Christiane Guillaumée estate located?
The estate lies in the Aube, in southern Champagne. The climate stays cool and dry, a demanding setting that concentrates the grapes and gives the cuvées their tension.
Who is winemaker Christiane Guillaumée?
She is a strong-minded grower, one of the few women in the area to run both the winemaking and the sales of her champagnes on her own. She builds her wines around elegance and finesse.
How are the estate's champagnes made?
The grapes are picked by hand, then rest in stainless steel tanks kept at a controlled temperature. The estate follows a considered approach in the vineyard, treating the vines only when truly needed.
What is the style of Christiane Guillaumée's rosé champagne?
Beneath a salmon hue, this rosé feels supple and round. The nose opens on almond and poppy, carried on by red fruit, before a finish shaped by freshness.
Which dishes suit this rosé champagne?
It works nicely as an aperitif and pairs equally well with fish or a fruit-based dessert. Its liveliness keeps it at ease on a festive table.
