Top 20 favourite wines - Direct from our winemakers

Why trust our favourites selection ?

Our Top 20 is not a commercial list. It is the result of tastings carried out directly with winemakers, in their cellars, on site. Only the cuvées that genuinely surprised us, through their terroir, originality or value for money, make it into this selection. Behind every bottle is a meeting, a winemaker's story and a shared conviction. All these wines are available estate direct, shipped straight from the producer's cellar with no middleman.

A selection spanning the entire French wine regions

From north to south, our Top 20 travels across France's great wine regions. Champagnes from independent growers hold a prominent place, confidential cuvées, far from the grandes maisons, crafted by grower-producers deeply connected to their terroir. Alongside them: characterful reds from the Languedoc and Bordeaux, precise and aromatic whites from Burgundy and the Loire Valley, and elegant Provence rosés. A diversity that reflects the richness of the French vineyard and the breadth of our partnerships with independent producers.

Varied grape varieties, styles for every palate

The ampelographic diversity of the Top 20 is one of its strengths. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir lead in the champagnes and Burgundy whites. The South-West brings native varieties such as Braucol, Duras and Mauzac. The Languedoc contributes its Mediterranean grapes, Syrah, Carignan, Mourvèdre, for generous, spiced wines. Melon de Bourgogne delivers a taut, saline Muscadet from the Loire, perfect with shellfish. This range of grape varieties ensures a selection suited to every tasting profile, from light aperitif wines to structured reds built for ageing.

Food and wine pairings: what to serve with our favourites ?

The variety of the Top 20 covers every occasion at the table. Champagnes and sparkling wines pair naturally with aperitifs, oysters, shellfish and delicate fish. Whites from the Loire and Burgundy are ideal alongside fish in sauce, crustaceans and pressed cheeses. Reds from the Languedoc and Bordeaux shine with red meats, charcuterie and slow-cooked dishes. Provence rosés remain versatile: aperitif, grilled food, summer salads.

Estate direct: what it means in practice

On Avenue des Vins, every bottle in the Top 20 is shipped by the winemaker themselves, from their cellar to your door. No intermediary stock, no négociant. This guarantees three things: vintage freshness, full traceability of the cuvée, and a price at the estate rate, the same as buying directly at the domaine. Explore our full selection →

Top 20 favourites - Frequently asked questions

How are the Top 20 wines selected ?

Every wine is chosen after a direct tasting at the winery by our team. The criteria: originality of the cuvée, terroir quality, value for money and the ability to surprise. No commercial logic drives the selection, only genuine enthusiasm counts, whether it is a red from the Languedoc, an independent grower champagne or a white from the Loire Valley.

Are the Top 20 wines available estate direct ?

Yes, without exception. Every bottle is shipped directly from the producer's cellar, with no middleman. This guarantees full vintage traceability, bottle freshness and a fair price, the estate rate, identical to what you would pay buying direct at the domaine.

Which wine regions are represented in the Top 20 ?

The Top 20 covers the full breadth of the French vineyard: Champagne, Bordeaux, Languedoc-Roussillon, Burgundy, the Loire Valley, Provence, the Rhône Valley and the South-West.

Is the Top 20 suitable as a wine gift ?

Absolutely. The independent grower champagnes in the selection make refined and original gifts, far removed from mainstream retail references. Cuvées labelled "Coup de Cœur" are particularly well suited to surprising a wine lover with something confidential and authentic.

Is the selection updated regularly ?

Yes. The Top 20 evolves as we make new discoveries with our winemakers. When a new cuvée excites us more than a previous one, it takes its place in the selection. What you see here reflects what genuinely moves us right now, not a fixed or purely commercial list.
