The Beaujolais wine region is located in central-eastern France, near the Burgundy wine region. Renowned for its famous Beaujolais Nouveau, this region situated between the Mâconnais and the Rhône Valley—is home to many other wines, such as the Beaujolais Nouveau AOC. The wines of this appellation are primarily reds made from Gamay or whites made from Chardonnay. This appellation covers 38 communes in the northern part of the wine region, on terroirs as numerous as they are diverse (gneiss, sandstone, schist, granite, etc.). These new wines are vinified using the carbonic maceration method.
