Volcanic soils unique in the world

The vines of the Côtes d'Auvergne flourish on rare soils, from basalt flows, ash and pozzolan. This geological composition gives the wines a marked minerality, an elegant freshness and an incomparable aromatic identity.

Three grapes dominate:

Gamay generous red and rosé wines, fruity and peppery.

Pinot Noir elegance, finesse and ageing potential.

Chardonnay expressive white wines, combining freshness and voluptuousness.

A winemaking history several centuries old

The Auvergne vineyard goes back more than 2,000 years. Once nicknamed the « wine of kings », it charmed Henri IV, Louis XIV, Picasso and Napoléon Bonaparte. In the 19th century, the Auvergne was the third wine region of France with more than 45,000 hectares.

Today, the department counts around 400 hectares, of which more than 200 are cultivated by our cooperators and 30 by our partner winegrower Pierre Goigoux.

The five emblematic crus of the Côtes d'Auvergne

The appellation comes in five AOP crus with assertive personalities:

Boudes fleshy, structured wines, a perfect alliance of power and elegance.

Madargue a rare terroir with sandy soils and green clays, giving harmonious wines.

Châteaugay fruity, sunny reds with a silky structure.

Chanturgue finesse, elegance and fruit, on a vineyard overlooking Clermont-Ferrand.

Corent mineral « gris » rosés, with aromas of fresh fruits and a lovely amplitude on the palate.

A demanding, respectful viticulture

Each plot is cultivated according to a strict set of specifications: controlled yield, optimal ripeness, impeccable health status and careful harvest. The harvest is done at dawn to preserve the freshness of the fruit.

In the cellar, our wines are made with minimal inputs, favouring plot selection and the expression of the terroir. Long macerations reveal colour, aromas and tannins, while whites and rosés benefit from gentle pressing to preserve their aromatic purity.
