Domaine Vintur – The Spirit of Ventoux, between Light and Terroir

An exceptional vineyard at the foot of Mont Ventoux. In the heart of Vaucluse, Domaine Vintur stretches at the foot of Mont Ventoux, in a sunlit basin framed by the Dentelles de Montmirail and the Luberon Massif. This historic vineyard—one of the oldest in France—benefits from an outstanding terroir where clay-limestone soils and the mistral wind, dry and purifying, shape healthy, concentrated grapes.

The vines, 30 to 60 years old, yield wines of rare aromatic complexity: deep reds, luminous whites, and delicate rosés. Each cuvée faithfully expresses the typicity of this Provençal terroir—both sunny and harmonious.

An independent vigneron serving living soils

True to the independent vigneron ethos, Domaine Vintur farms 5 hectares with absolute respect for nature. Grapes from carefully tended plots are vinified on site in a modern cellar where tradition meets innovation.

Since its acquisition in 2010 by Graham Shore—a British wine lover smitten with Provence—the estate has undergone a true renaissance. In 2014 it began full organic conversion; organic certification was achieved with the 2017 vintage.

Graham says: “When I took over, the soil was dead. Today it lives: worms, hares, and birds have returned. You can taste this biodiversity in every glass.”

Today, Domaine Vintur is a model of respectful viticulture: no herbicides, pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers. Soils are regenerated, wildlife returns, and the wines gain in precision, freshness, and depth.

A story of light and culture

The name Vintur pays homage to the Provençal god of Light and Mountains, protector of Ventoux in Gaulish mythology. Some even claim Mont Ventoux takes its name from this solar deity, assimilated to Apollo.

This symbolic heritage still guides the estate: crafting luminous, sincere, generous wines that mirror eternal Provence. The tasting room—just 40 minutes from Avignon and 10 minutes from Carpentras—offers an authentic wine tourism experience, featuring the estate’s cuvées alongside emblematic regional products.

Since 2012, Domaine Vintur has been recognized at major competitions: gold and silver medals, the trophy for best white in the Ventoux appellation, and repeated distinctions at Millésime Bio, the international organic wine fair.

• Tradition Red – AOC Ventoux: supple and balanced, with silky tannins.

• Cuvée Bélénos – AOC Ventoux, Limited Edition: a sun-kissed wine, both racy and deep.
