Domaine du Chardonnay: The Excellence of Burgundy Expertise in AOC Chablis
In the heart of Burgundy, Domaine du Chardonnay embodies the authentic and demanding spirit of the Chablis appellation. Founded in 1987, the estate is built on a blend of expertise and passion among committed winemakers, now led by Arnaud Nahan and Thomas Labille. With 34.5 hectares of Chardonnay vines, the estate has established itself as a key reference in the Chablis vineyard.
A Legacy Rooted in Land and People
Founded by Étienne Boileau, Christian Simon, and William Nahan, Domaine du Chardonnay has grown while remaining true to its roots. From an initial 11 hectares, the vineyard has expanded to 34.5 hectares exclusively devoted to Chardonnay white wines. Each vintage reflects the richness of a terroir shaped by generations, balancing modern mastery and respect for tradition.
Precise Winemaking Driven by Quality
Every step of the winemaking process is meticulously carried out at the estate: from harvest to aging, technical choices are made to preserve the integrity of the fruit. Thanks to high-performance facilities (pneumatic pressing, temperature control, in-house bottling), the team crafts each cuvée with artisanal precision, showcasing the pure expression of Chardonnay.
Appellations That Express the Diversity of Chablis Terroirs
Domaine du Chardonnay produces a complete range of AOC white wines:
- Petit Chablis: lively, floral, and fresh, expressing the youth of the terroir.
- Chablis: mineral, balanced, and typical of the Chablisian style.
- Chablis Premiers Crus: from carefully selected plots on both the right and left banks of the Serein River, offering great complexity and excellent aging potential.
This diversity of appellations illustrates how soil, exposure, and vintage influence the aromatic profile of Chardonnay.
A Philosophy: Respect for Terroir, Mastery of Technique
At Domaine du Chardonnay, respect for terroir is a guiding principle. Each cuvée is conceived as a testament to the soil, climate, and vine. No wine is standardized—the winemaking process adapts to the grape’s character, vine age, and natural vintage conditions. This tailored approach gives the wines their purity, finesse, and unique personality.
A Unique Grape Variety, Chardonnay, as a Signature
Grown on the distinctive Kimmeridgian soils of Chablis, the Chardonnay grape finds one of its finest expressions here. It produces wines with great freshness, marked by citrus aromas, white flowers, and saline notes. This iconic grape allows Domaine du Chardonnay to create wines that are precise, elegant, and sincere.
A Commitment to Authenticity
Arnaud Nahan, in charge of the vineyard, and Thomas Labille, head winemaker, share a common vision: sustainable viticulture that respects nature and people. Each bottle reflects their commitment to producing Chablis wines worthy of the appellation’s international reputation.
