Domaine de Rocheville (Parnay): young in age, grand in style
A domaine born in 2004… already essential in Saumur-Champigny. In Parnay, 7 km from Saumur, the Domaine de Rocheville was founded in 2004 by Philippe Porché. True to artisanal winemaking, the team seeks the purest expression of Cabernet Franc (reds & rosé) and Chenin (whites & sparkling), guided by the same principle: precision, freshness, and elegance.
Certified environmental commitments
A pioneer in sustainability, Rocheville was certified Terra Vitis (2011) and later Organic Agriculture (2019). Everything contributes to healthy grapes and straightforward, low-intervention wines: mechanical soil work, natural grass cover, hedges and rosebushes for biodiversity, controlled yields, and hand harvesting on the best plots.
An exceptional Loire terroir: tuffeau, light, and microclimate
On the slopes of Parnay (Loire Valley, UNESCO), clay-limestone soils rest on Cretaceous tuffeau, a true water sponge and thermal reservoir. Warm and dry climate for the Loire, Loire breezes, day/night temperature swings: Cabernet Franc gains silkiness and crunchy fruit; Chenin shows tension, minerality, and great longevity.
Contemporary winery & troglodytic caves: tradition + technique
Tailored aging in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, large oak casks, barrels, and sometimes clay eggs. Parcel selection, indigenous yeasts for high-end cuvées, limited SO2 through bioprotection: technique serves the style, never the reverse.
Wine tourism: Loire views, carved caves, and guided tastings
Rocheville welcomes visitors year-round: walks through the vineyards, visits of the contemporary winery nestled in the heart of the vineyard, discovery of the troglodytic caves, and panoramic tastings. A Loire interlude revealing the intimate link between landscape, grape variety, and know-how.
The range: four flagship cuvées, four signatures
La Favorite – Crémant de Loire (100% Chenin, extra-brut)
Fine bubbles, long aging (on lees ~36 months), precise and mouthwatering juice. Ideal for an aperitif, chic buffet, or start of a meal.
La Jouvencelle – Saumur Blanc (100% Chenin)
Radiant freshness, delicate pressing, short aging on lees in casks/barrels without malolactic to preserve tension. Delicious in youth, with strong aging potential (up to 10 years).
La Dame – Saumur Blanc (100% Chenin)
Historic parcel by the Loire, hand-harvested with slight overripeness, aged 12 months in large casks. Generous body, refined balance, exceptional aging capacity (up to 20 years).
Clos de la Thibaudière – Saumur Blanc (100% Chenin, Brézé)
A confidential micro-plot on sand/silt/clay over tuffeau. Aged in barrels ≥ 9 months, long mineral finish, vibrant finesse. A terroir-driven Chenin with incisive style, crafted for aging.
Domaine de Rocheville, Saumur-Champigny & Saumur Blanc: Loire precision between tuffeau terroir, organic farming, and haute couture winemaking.
