Organic farming, a philosophy above all
At Domaine de la Verpaille, the vine expresses itself freely on living soils, nourished by a homemade compost and worked both by ploughing and by controlled natural grass cover. The goal? To favour biodiversity and strengthen the plant's natural defences, while limiting the use of copper and sulphur.
This organic approach, begun in 2006 and certified since 2009, reflects a deep conviction: a healthy soil gives birth to a true wine.
An exceptional terroir for wines of emotion
The estate now extends over 20 hectares, mostly planted with Chardonnay, the king grape of the Maconnais, and with Gamay for a few plots dedicated to sparkling wines. The diversity of soils clay, limestone and well-drained, offers a palette of aromatic expressions of great richness.
It is in this privileged environment that balanced, elegant and luminous wines are born, faithful to their terroir.
A natural and patient winemaking
From grape to bottle, everything is designed to preserve the purity of the fruit. The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, the fermentations take place with indigenous yeasts, without chaptalisation, and the wines are aged on fine lees for 9 to 14 months. Time does its work, revealing wines of rare authenticity, marked by finesse and energy.
