Château Moncets & Chambrun: The Revival of a Great Terroir Between Montagne Saint-Émilion and Pomerol

A historic estate at the heart of Bordeaux’s greatest appellations.

Château Moncets is one of those estates whose history is inseparable from that of the Bordeaux vineyard. First mentioned in 1770, it received its name in 1872 from General de Moncets, who unified a 19-hectare estate in a single block, ideally located at the crossroads of four major appellations: Montagne Saint-Émilion, Lalande-de-Pomerol, Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. A rare position in the heart of some of the world’s most prestigious terroirs.

A new era: renovation, precision and modernity

In 2012, the estate changed hands and embarked on an ambitious transformation. In 2015, the cellars were entirely renovated and equipped with state-of-the-art tools:

• parcel-based vinification,
• full gravity-flow operation,
• tanks adapted for micro-vinifications,
• precise berry selection.

This modernization refined extractions, increased elegance and allowed each parcel to express its unique identity. That same year, the 9 hectares of Château de Chambrun were added to the property, enriching the range with premium cuvées of depth and character.

Organic commitment: a vineyard turned toward the future

In 2016, a young, rigorous and creative team took over the estate. Their mission: guide Château Moncets toward sustainable viticulture by initiating its conversion to organic farming.

Every action in the vineyard was reconsidered:

• mechanical soil work,
• strict limitation of inputs,
• ecological vineyard management,
• biodiversity encouraged throughout the property.

The goal is simple: allow the terroir to express its purity while producing wines that are vibrant, precise and beautifully balanced.
