Domaine Les Amoureuses: The Creative Spirit of Ardèche Winemaking
An Ambitious Project Born from Passion for the Ardèche Land. On the right bank of the Rhône, at the gateway to the Gorges de l’Ardèche, Domaine Les Amoureuses spreads across 76 hectares of preserved nature in Bourg-Saint-Andéol. This unique place combines the freshness of the North with the Mediterranean generosity of the South. In 2011, Jean-Pierre and Florence Bedel — founders of the industrial group Fabemi — fell in love with this terroir and decided to breathe new life into it. Visionaries and true lovers of their region, they completely reimagined the estate: from the choice of grape varieties and winemaking techniques to the design of the cellars and the style of the wines.
Terres des Amoureuses: Where Innovation Meets Tradition
From this rebirth emerged a dual project: Terres des Amoureuses — a bold and creative IGP Ardèche range, symbolizing freedom and experimentation. Château Les Amoureuses — an AOP Côtes-du-Rhône and IGP Coteaux de l’Ardèche collection, elegant, authentic, and rooted in French classicism. Together, they reflect the estate’s desire to unite technical excellence and emotional expression, giving life to sincere, captivating, and distinctive wines.
An Exemplary Organic Transition
The transition to organic farming began in November 2019 and led to ECOCERT certification in 2023, complemented by a biodynamic approach validated by Demeter. The estate, also certified High Environmental Value (HVE), is deeply committed to preserving biodiversity and soil vitality through: – natural grass cover, – plant-based compost, – zero herbicides or synthetic fertilizers, – grape varieties resistant to disease and climate change. This environmentally conscious philosophy makes the estate a leading example of sustainable viticulture in southern Ardèche.
An Exceptional Terroir Between Rhône and Garrigue
The vineyard stretches across thirteen “lieux-dits,” forming a rare geological mosaic: clay-limestone terraces, stony soils along the Rhône, and marl on higher ground. Located between 80 and 330 meters in altitude, the vines benefit from optimal sunlight and natural ventilation that encourage slow, even ripening. This diversity produces wines that are both sun-kissed and fresh — true ambassadors of the Ardèche terroir.
A Unique and Diverse Grape Collection
The vineyard boasts twenty grape varieties, blending heritage grapes with modern selections: Red Varieties: Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Marselan, Malbec, Tannat, Tempranillo, Graciano... White Varieties: Roussanne, Marsanne, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, Alvarinho... This diversity allows for an infinite creative palette, from floral, crisp whites to full-bodied, velvety reds.
Precision Harvesting and High-Couture Winemaking
Harvesting takes place at optimal phenolic ripeness, using optical sorting, onboard weighing, and micro-vinification by parcel. The 70 temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks in the cellar allow for small-batch winemaking that preserves aromatic purity. Each cuvée is tasted daily, and the final blends reveal wines that are sunny yet balanced — defined by the freshness and minerality of Ardèche.
Distinctive Wines Reflecting a Vibrant Terroir
The signature cuvées — Promenade en Ardèche, Les Charmes, La Barbare — embody the estate’s personality: generous, sincere, gourmet, and full of emotion. Each bottle tells a love story between nature, craftsmanship, and the soul of Ardèche.
A Legendary Name, Between Romance and Heritage
The name “Les Amoureuses” comes from a local legend: long ago, the youth of Bourg-Saint-Andéol would meet by the stream bordering the Vinsas vineyards, where summer romances began. Today, the cellar still stands on this symbolic site — a living tribute to passion, tradition, and modernity intertwined.
