A new generation revealing new momentum
In 2016, Lise and Benjamin, the fourth generation, take up the family torch. Their approach blends absolute respect for tradition with a desire to reinvent Cahors by bringing freshness, precision and modernity. To mark their arrival, they create Tandem, a 100 % Malbec cuvee that quickly becomes a symbol: that of an estate on the move, driven by two complementary personalities.
The terroir and its specificities
West of the Cahors appellation, Château Lamartine holds an enviable position that gives it a rare advantage: earliness. Its grapes ripen sooner, ensuring a remarkable consistency in the quality of the vintages.
Château Lamartine has the good fortune to work one of the finest terroir mosaics in the Lot valley. The estate's 37 hectares, bathed in sunshine thanks to a full-south exposure, rest on soils of strong nuances. This natural patchwork shapes wines that swing between elegance, tension, roundness and depth.

Work in the vineyard and commitments
For decades, the estate has defended an agriculture respectful of the land. Alain Gayraud, a landmark figure at Lamartine, has always placed soil work at the centre of his philosophy. A logical commitment: to obtain great wines, you must first honour what gives them life. In 2022, this demand takes shape with the organic certification of the entire vineyard.
Winemaking relies on modern tools: precise sorting, traditional punch-downs, temperature control, stainless-steel vats suited to each cuvee. The fully air-conditioned ageing cellars house several hundred French oak barrels from seven different cooperages, a deliberate choice that refines the aromatic profiles and takes each wine to the appellation's higher level.
