Château Le Pin Beausoleil is a family estate in the Gironde, bought by the Hallek family in 2004. A doctor and researcher, Michael Hallek watches over every detail, from the vine to the winemaking, with the same standard he brings to his profession.

Château Le Pin Beausoleil is above all a family adventure. The name of our company, MIVIDA, brings together the first names of our family: Michael, Ingrid, Vivian and David. In Spanish, "mi vida" means "my life": there is no better way to sum up our enthusiasm for this shared project.

That shared project gives the estate its colour: that of a family putting its name and its energy into every bottle.

When did you catch the wine bug?

From Paris to Bordeaux, a passion born of friendships and terroir

Michael Hallek's taste for wine came during a year of study in Paris. Through French friendships, he learned to appreciate the nobility and elegance of the great wines of Bordeaux, up to the decisive meeting with the estate.

A few years later, in 2003, Ingrid and I discovered Château Le Pin Beausoleil. We immediately fell in love with the place and understood that its terroir could give birth to great wines.

The following year, in 2004, the family took the plunge and bought the château. Love at first sight became a life project.

What philosophy guides your work in the vines and the cellar?

The same standard as in research: never settle for what is done

Michael Hallek brings to the vine the rigour of his life as a researcher. The approach is the same: observe, progress, take nothing as final.

As in my main profession, where I have had the chance to make important progress in leukaemia research with a dynamic team, I never settle for what has already been achieved. With the team at Château Le Pin Beausoleil, my ambition is to produce an exceptional wine.

That ambition is worked at as a team, patiently, season after season, like a protocol refined without end.

Which wine best represents your estate?

The château's grand vin, an ageworthy Bordeaux Supérieur

The wine that embodies the estate carries its name: Château Le Pin Beausoleil, an AOC Bordeaux Supérieur. Cabernet Franc, Michael Hallek's favourite grape, holds pride of place alongside Merlot. Among the vintages closest to his heart, he names 2005, 2009, 2015, 2020 and 2024.

These wines pair especially well with one of my favourite recipes: lamb with olives. It is a generous, convivial dish whose Mediterranean flavours bring out the depth and elegance of the wine.

Alongside the grand vin, the estate offers a second wine, Petit Soleil, as well as a Petit Soleil Rosé, to approach the house style in other forms.

What are your ambitions for the estate?

Making Le Pin Beausoleil a place of meeting and culture

Beyond the wine, the Hallek family looks further ahead. They picture the estate as an open place, where people come as much for the setting and the exchanges as for the bottle.

Our ambition for the years to come is to make Le Pin Beausoleil a place of meeting and culture. We want to create a living space there, open to exchange, where wine converses with art, heritage and moments of sharing.

A way of extending, beyond the glass, the spirit of sharing that has driven the project from the very first day.
