Covering more than 65,000 hectares of vines, the Rhône Valley is France's second-largest vineyard, covering 6 départements between Vienne and Avignon. The AOC Saint-Péray mousseux covers 2 communes in the Ardèche department (Saint-Péray and Toulaud), on some 70 hectares of soil composed of limestone scree, silt and granitic rock. Marsanne and Roussanne vines are planted in this appellation, in the Mediterranean climate of this geographical zone, and produce sparkling white wines using the “méthode traditionnelle champenoise”. These wines are low in acidity, lively and fresh, with pronounced notes of white flowers.
