The vineyards of the Rhône Valley is the 2nd largest French AOC wine-producing region in terms of production and surface area. The Rhône valley vineyards extend over 76,330 hectares of vines. 92% of wine drinkers in France are familiar with the AOC of the Côtes du Rhône. The vineyards of the Rhône Valley are some of the most extensive and diverse in France. The main varieties of the Rhône Valley are Syrah, Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre, Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc and Clairette Blanche. The AOC Côtes du Rhône allows the use of 21 varieties.
