Domaine Bord: The Family Soul of Loupiac
A vineyard passed down as a living heritage In the heart of Loupiac, on the right bank of the Garonne, the Bord family cultivates far more than vines. For more than six generations, they have shaped a landscape, a philosophy, and above all a wine style that bears their signature. Clos Jean and Château Rondillon, the two estates of the domaine, stretch across the most sought-after slopes of the appellation, facing South and Southwest, where sunlight sculpts grape ripeness and the cool morning mists give birth to great sweet wines.
A Terroir Shaped by Time
Loupiac is unlike any other land. Its gentle hills, shaped over millennia, rest on limestone subsoils and clay-gravel soils that retain warmth while allowing constant breathing for the vines. This natural alchemy creates the perfect conditions for the development of botrytis cinerea, the famous noble rot essential to the creation of the great sweet white wines of Bordeaux. Here, each misty autumn morning signals a new stage in the miracle. Harvesting is done through successive selections, berry by berry, with the same care as in the past. The average age of the vines exceeds 37 years, offering an aromatic depth that only time can provide.
The Pride of a Family, the Constancy of a Style
The Bord family continues a winemaking tradition patiently built over more than two centuries. A living tradition, never static, where high standards meet the desire to pass on knowledge. The emblematic grape varieties — Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle — express themselves with honesty and generosity, giving wines with silky textures, ripe fruit aromas and vibrant finishes.
The Estate’s Cuvées
Each cuvée tells a different facet of the terroir and the family story: – Clos Jean Loupiac: the most classic and luminous expression of Loupiac sweet wine, rich, balanced, always elegant. – Sublime de Clos Jean Loupiac: a confidential cuvée, deeper, designed for lovers of great gastronomic sweet wines. – Petit Clos Jean Loupiac: the ideal entry point into the Bord universe, fresh, gourmet, accessible. – Clos Jean Bordeaux Blanc Sec: a lively, chiselled dry white that reveals another side of Sémillon and Sauvignon. – Clos Jean Bordeaux Rosé: a tender and aromatic rosé, perfect for simple pleasures and spontaneous moments. – Clos Jean Bordeaux Rouge: a fruity, soft red, faithful to the convivial spirit of the estate. These cuvées form a complete palette that goes far beyond sweet wines alone, while remaining true to the identity of Loupiac.
