In the heart of the Corbières, in a protected landscape where garrigue meets rolling hills, Les Vins de Fontfroide carry forward an heritage over a thousand years old. It all began around the Cistercian Abbey of Fontfroide, a Romanesque architectural jewel founded in the heart of Cathar country. Following the Rule of Saint Benedict, the monks were already cultivating vines for their daily wine ration.

Across the centuries, nature, spirituality and human hands shaped a rare vineyard deeply rooted in history, where each parcel still seems to echo the silence of the cloisters.

The vines of Fontfroide grow on sandy-clay soils formed from pink sandstone — a unique bedrock that brings tension, aromatic finesse and intense fruit character to the wines. Sheltered by surrounding hills, the vineyard thrives in a preserved Mediterranean environment bathed in light, producing cuvées of remarkable authenticity.
