Vignobles Arbo – Five Generations of Passion in the Heart of Côtes de Bordeaux
A Family Story Deeply Rooted in the Land. Vignobles Arbo trace their roots to a long line of winemakers established in Francs, Bordeaux, since the early 20th century. In 1988, Bernadette and Joseph Arbo breathed new life into the family estate by creating their own cellar and reviving independent winemaking. Their first wine, Château Puyanché, pays tribute to Amand Puyanché, the founding ancestor who fell during World War I.
Over time, the estate expanded and became a benchmark for both Francs Côtes de Bordeaux and Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, while staying true to its core values: excellence, respect for the land, and family heritage.
The New Generation: Skill and Ambition
Today, Dorian and Margaux Arbo represent the fifth generation, carrying the family tradition forward with passion.
Dorian, a graduate in viticulture and oenology, honed his craft in New Zealand before taking over technical direction and winemaking at the estate.
Margaux, an expert in international wine trade, after ten years of experience in the U.S. and Bordeaux, now leads sales and marketing for the family wines.
Together, they bring fresh energy — blending tradition and innovation to unlock the full potential of their vineyards.
A Generous Vineyard, Two Prestigious Appellations
The Vignobles Arbo cover 51 hectares across two appellations:
- Francs Côtes de Bordeaux: 38 ha red, 3 ha white on clay-limestone soils.
- Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux: 10 ha devoted to powerful, elegant reds.
This hillside terroir benefits from a dry yet temperate continental climate, ideal for grape ripening. Its southwest exposure and limestone-rich soils produce wines of freshness, balance, and harmony.
Responsible and Sustainable Viticulture
For decades, the Arbo family has farmed sustainably, guided by environmental respect:
- No insecticides or acaricides for over ten years,
- 50% reduction in copper and sulfur use,
- Natural grass cover to promote biodiversity,
- Recycling and lightweight eco-packaging,
- ISO 14001 certification via the Bordeaux AFAQ-labeled association.
Their mission: craft characterful wines while preserving soil vitality for generations to come.
Careful Vineyard Work
Every stage of the vine’s life is done with precision and passion — manual pruning, shoot thinning, leaf removal, and canopy management. Controlled grassing reduces erosion and encourages beneficial insects. This meticulous care ensures healthy, concentrated grapes — the foundation of every Arbo wine.
