Château Finegrave: A Family Heritage and Authenticity
Roots Deep in the Médoc
Château Finegrave was founded in 1961 by André Leclerc. Born in the heart of the Médoc and raised among the great wines of Saint-Julien, he developed a deep connection with the vine and wine at an early age. Starting with a few rows inherited from his uncle and parcels acquired over time, he built a vineyard that reached 0.85 hectares in 1995.
Passing Down Unique Expertise
A true pioneer, André Leclerc first vinified his wine at Château Barton, where he worked as estate manager, before producing his own cuvées in Beychevelle. His passion and rigor gave birth to wines renowned for their purity and authenticity. Upon his death in 1998, Marie-Claude and Fidel Eliceche carried on the family legacy.
The Third Generation at the Helm
Since 2021, the children and their spouses have been involved, structuring the estate under the name “EARL Domaines André Leclerc”. Their mission: preserve the heritage while adapting it to today’s challenges, through sustainable vineyard practices and a constant pursuit of excellence.
Château Evoke: The Refinement of Saint-Julien - An Exceptional Terroir
In 2018, the estate expanded with 0.2 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon located at the heart of the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation. On these gravelly and stony soils lying over a complex subsoil, wines of balance, elegance, and finesse are born.
Artisanal and Meticulous Craftsmanship
Every step, from vineyard to bottle, is carried out with the utmost care. Manual harvesting, gravity-fed cellar, hand-waxing of bottles, and finishing with 24-carat gold leaf: everything is designed to offer a unique sensory experience, a reflection of the terroir and the family’s history.
The Style of Château Finegrave Wines
The estate’s red wines stand out with their deep ruby color and delicate bouquet of red and black fruits such as blackberry and blueberry. On the palate, the dense structure unfolds with elegance, combining power and smoothness. The grape composition, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (75%) and complemented by Merlot (25%), fully expresses the typicity of the Saint-Julien appellation.
A Philosophy of Respect and Sharing
At both Château Finegrave and Château Evoke, wine is a family passion, with a desire to pass on a precious heritage while enhancing an exceptional terroir. Each bottle is the result of meticulous work and a story carried on from one generation to the next.
