Domaine Trouillet: Burgundy Elegance at the Foot of the Roche de Solutré
In Pouilly, under the majestic shadow of the Roche de Solutré, Domaine Trouillet embodies everything that makes the Mâconnais great: a strong family heritage, exceptional terroirs and an unwavering passion for Chardonnay. Today run by William Trouillet, fourth generation, and his wife Caroline, the estate extends across 20 hectares of vines—a remarkable evolution, considering that its founder, Jules Guérin, originally farmed just 4 hectares as a sharecropper.
Here, time has done its work, the family has passed down its knowledge, and the vineyard has grown like a living organism guided by respect for the land.
A Mosaic of Terroirs Shaping Wines of Remarkable Precision
The domaine’s vines, averaging 40 to 50 years old, stretch across six emblematic villages: Solutré-Pouilly, Fuissé, Loché, Vinzelles, Leynes and Davayé. These clay-limestone soils, with their subtle variations, offer a rare diversity of Chardonnay expressions.
Each cuvée captures a specific landscape, a light, an altitude. The freshness of Mont Pouilly, the depth of “Chailloux,” the power of old vines… Burgundy in all its nuance.
A Philosophy Rooted in Nature and Precision
At Domaine Trouillet, the work begins in the vineyard:
- sustainable vineyard management,
- reduction of treatments through adapted practices,
- soil cultivation to encourage microbial life and deep rooting,
- a continual search for balance and purity.
This respectful approach was rewarded in 2018 with HVE (High Environmental Value) Level 3 certification.
In the cellar, the same attention to detail applies:
- gentle pressing with a modern pneumatic press,
- 24-hour settling for clarity and precision,
- vinification in vats, large wooden foudres or Burgundy barrels depending on the cuvée,
- precise temperature control to preserve freshness and finesse.
A Range of Appellations Among the Most Prestigious in the Mâconnais
Domaine Trouillet offers a rich, elegant and distinctive collection. Each wine tells the story of its climate and terroir, with admirable consistency in quality.
Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru “Pouilly”
From old vines on clay-chalk soils, this premier cru stands out for its intense aromatics, depth and natural elegance.
Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru “Aux Chailloux”
An iconic and historic cuvée, located on the first parcels ever farmed by Jules Guérin. Clay soils rich in rolled flint stones create a complex, vibrant and highly sought-after wine.
Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru “Les Vignes de Jules”
A tribute to the great-grandfather. A blend of parcels from Solutré-Pouilly, vinified in Burgundy barrels: power, breadth and distinction.
Pouilly-Fuissé “Vieilles Vignes”
A blend of parcels over 40 years old in Solutré-Pouilly. Aged in barrels and foudres, this wine is complete, generous and structured.
Pouilly-Loché “Les Mures”
From the smallest appellation in the Mâconnais, this east-facing hillside parcel delivers a rare, precise wine with Gallo-Roman heritage and remarkable freshness.
Pouilly-Vinzelles “Les Quarts”
A small climat of 53 hectares resting on Jurassic rocks. Producing powerful, rich and luminous wines, perfectly suited to the Mâconnais exposures.
Saint-Véran “Les Condemines”
Old vines of 70 years facing fully south. A harmonious, ample Saint-Véran with vibrant fruit and 100% barrel ageing.
Saint-Véran “Nord-Sud”
A blend of two parcels—one to the north, one to the south. The result: a remarkably precise wine combining citrus, minerality and roundness.
Mâcon-Solutré-Pouilly “Au Rompay”
A parcel located on Mont Pouilly, the highest point of the estate. Late-ripening wines with tension, minerality and freshness for purists.
Mâcon-Vinzelles “Les Morandes”
A small treasure of fruit and generosity. A warm, balanced wine lifted by a gentle acidity that brings vivacity and length.
Côteaux Bourguignons “Les Reines de la Jacarde”
A charming, delicate cuvée where candied fruit and minerality intertwine. An elegant finish on verbena: an aromatic success.
Crémant de Bourgogne Brut “Blanc de Blancs”
Crafted using the traditional method, this crémant displays a pale colour and notes of white fruit. Fresh, joyful and balanced, it delights lovers of fine bubbles.
